Great that a terrorist exporting goat fucker got to make that call.

    • For every action theres an equal and opposite reaction ,,,seems like the people are waking up and realising that ,, "refugees " aint that welcome after all ,,,,over to you kato , for your equally opposite reaction . But hopefully after the tiny island called UK puts a dent in the EU with brexit and France follows on , then the problem will be on its way to being sorted as camoron and merkel cry into their respective massive pensions loss , then its , the refugees turn ,,rawhide ,,head em up move em out ,if you can find them that is , yup peeps are mightily pissed off at this corrupt EU , unelected , so therefore undemocratic , which makes them dictators , but the people are waking up to the ersatz huh , and saying enough , is genouch , and Germany gets back to being , German , not an islamic state .

A German anti-immigration party that wants to ban minarets and burqas has said Islam is incompatible with the country’s constitution.

Deputy leader of Alternative for Germany (AfD), Beatrix von Storch, told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper on Sunday that: “Many Muslims are part of Germany, but Islam is not part of Germany”.

“Islam is in itself a political ideology that is not compatible with the constitution,” she added.

“We are in favour of a ban on minarets, on muezzins and a ban on full veils”.

Another of the AfD’s deputy leaders, Alexander Gauland, said: “Islam is not a religion like Catholic or Protestant Christianity, but rather intellectually always associated with the takeover of the state. That is why the Islamisation of Germany is a danger.”

The AfD punished Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democrats in three regional elections last month, profiting from popular angst about how Germany can cope with an influx of migrants, over a million of whom arrived last year.

Merkel’s conservatives have also called for an effective ban on the burqa, saying the full body covering worn by some Muslim women should not be worn in public. But they have not said Islam is incompatible with Germany’s constitution.

NOT YET , BUT THEY WILL

The AfD’s rise, which has coincided with strong gains by other European anti-immigrant parties including the National Front in France, has punctured the centrist consensus around which the mainstream parties have formed alliances in Germany.

Last month, the party grabbed 24 per cent of the vote in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, surpassing even the Social Democrats (SPD), Merkel’s coalition partner in Berlin. The AfD founded in 2013, also performed strongly in two other states.

The party’s rise has been controversial. Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel, a Social Democrat, has said Germany’s far-right, led by the AfD party, is using language similar to that of Hitler’s Nazis.

Such accusations have not swayed the party from its anti-immigration course.

      • They're pretty much looking for a new pony to ride, now that the refugees ain't coming any longer. Not that they'll have any success with that. And - since it's mentioned in that article - their cozy-up course with France's Front National ain't being well-received either.

The comparison of the AfD with Hitler's NSDAP is something mostly done by conservatives (the first one who openly did so was the chairman of the Muslim Central Council of Germany). Left-wing media have attacked any such statements.

Other than that, who cares about what Merkel does? At least she's doing something for once, unlike her waffling positions on about anything in the last 11 years.

By our conservative state governments - individually.

Based basically on how much space they saw as required for long-term habitation beyond what they could shift down to municipalities. Which was mostly ruled by how many people would not be shifted down, i.e. how many would have to wait at state level for deportation.

The NYT is a pretty centrist paper from a European perspective. Roughly in line with where the German government is standing, i.e. slightly right of center. Although of course the foreign politics articles of the NYT tend to swing to the far right for European eyes.

              • Hahaha ,, good luck on this one. ,,TIMMMMMMMBBBERRRRRRR and your problems are only just starting , danke merkel .

A KEY ally of embattled Angela Merkel has admitted multiculturalism has “failed” and called for radical Islamists to be booted out of Europe.

Prominent German politician Andreas Scheuer said it was time for his country’s bungling leader to “put an end to this integration romance” and take a tough new stance on Islamic extremism.
His comments came as one of Mrs Merkel’s own MPs proposed banning all foreign funding for German mosques to stop the spread of Islamic State’s ideology.

In a series of hard-hitting proposals Mr Scheuer said in future all Imams must be trained in Germany and said any Muslims who do not accept Western values “cannot stay here”.

His outburst comes amid an increasingly fractious debate over radical Islamism in Germany, sparked by Mrs Merkel’s ill-fated open door asylum policy.

Angela MerkelREUTERS – His outburst reveals the growing opposition to Mrs Merkel’s open door asylum policy

It also exposes the growing cracks in the German chancellor’s power base as her approval ratings plummet and members of her own movement begin to openly question her stance on immigration.
In an interview with newspaper Die Welt, Mr Scheuer raged: “We cannot tolerate a situation in which extremist views are imported from abroad. Europe must cultivate its own Islam.

“All imams need to be trained in Germany and share our core values.

“Those who are not integrated cannot stay here. We must put an end to this integration romance. Multiculturalism has failed. Those who are not integrated, must expect departure [from Germany].”

Migrants are escorted through EuropeREUTERS – There are fears the migrant crisis could bring radical Islam to Germany

Migrants crawl through barbed wireREUTERS – Another German MP has suggested levying a ‘mosque tax’ on Muslims

His words carry extra weight because he is the General Secretary of the Christian Social Union (CSU), which is the sister party of Angela Merkel’s governing Christian Democratic Union (CDU).
This week a German MP proposed levying a so-called ‘mosque tax’ on German Muslims to pay to build new state-sanctioned Islamic centres for arriving migrants.

Lawmakers are keen to stop Saudi Arabia’s hate-filled Salafist ideology being imported and spreading, as has happened in Belgium.

Alexander Radwan, who is a member of Mrs Merkel’s ruling party, said the Government should bill taxpaying Muslims to make up for the shortfall from the scrapped foreign investment.

THOSE WHO ARE NOT INTEGRATED CANNOT STAY HERE

                ANDREAS SCHEUER

The new levy would resemble the country’s existing ‘church tax’, where people who register as Catholic, Protestant or Jewish on their tax forms pay in more money to provide for church activities.
Mr Radwan, a member of the European Parliament for Bavaria, told German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung: “If you stop foreign funding of mosques, of course you have to provide sufficient funding here in Germany.”

He said that as part of the plan Muslim religious communities could have to get registered as public corporations like many other institutions in Germany.

His proposal comes after German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere suggested sanctions could be imposed on migrants who make no effort to integrate into Western society.

The politician said late last month that there has to be a certain “connection between the successful completion of integration and how long you are permitted to stay in Germany.”

Under the new plan, any migrant who refuses to take German language lessons and look for a job would be deported.

Mr De Maiziere added that the government “does not want ghettos” and would be introducing a new integration law in May by latest, according to newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.

More than 1.1 million migrants entered Germany last year, with most coming from Middle Eastern and North African countries.

Well, and if you go by "Merkel's government" that includes currently 504 out of 631 seats in parliament. CDU, SPD and CSU. Everyone in parliament who is not a member of "Merkel's government" is considered to be to the left of it. Let's remember that.

A far-Right political party which inflicted damaging losses on Angela Merkel in German regional elections is reportedly to rebrand itself as openly anti-Muslim.

A powerful faction within Alternative for Germany (AfD) want to put overt opposition to Islam at the heart of the party’s programme, according to Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper.

The move follows reports the party wants to ban minarets, the call to prayer, and male circumcision, and would put the party on a collision course with Germany’s estimated four million Muslims.

“Islam is a political ideology that is incompatible with the German constitution,” Beatrix von Storch, one of the party’s deputy leaders and an MEP, told the newspaper.

“Many Muslims are part of Germany, but Islam is not part of Germany,” she said.

“Islam is not a religion like Catholic or Protestant Christianity, but is intellectually committed to the takeover of the state. Therefore the Islamisation of Germany is a danger,” Alexander Gauland, another deputy leader, said.

“We are a Christian-secular state, Islam is a foreign entity. There is no such thing as a ‘Euro-Islam’.”

The AfD stormed to its best ever results in regional elections last month on a platform of opposition to Mrs Merkel’s “open-door” refugee policy.

But the party appears to be shifting from an anti-immigrant stance to a more general opposition to Islam, raising concerns among Germany’s Muslim population.

An estimated 1.9m Muslims are German citizens, while another 2.4m are permanent residents.

Calls from within the party to ban male circumcision have also raised alarm in Germany’s Jewish community.

The shift to an openly anti-Muslim stance would align the party more closely with the Pegida street movement, whose full name is Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West.

The AfD is to agree its new manifesto at the party conference in Stuttgart in two weeks, with a hardline faction pushing for a ban on minarets, the call to prayer and women wearing hijab in public.

The comments by Ms von Storch and Mr Gauland ahead of the meeting suggests they believe they have the support to force through the anti-Muslim measures despite opposition from the party leader, Frauke Petry.

Ms Petry has looked increasingly marginalised within the party in recent weeks despite leading it to its best ever results.

Meanwhile the party is reportedly divided over a proposed alliance with France’s Front National at the European parliament.

A faction led by Ms von Storch opposes forming a bloc with Marine le Pen’s party — on the grounds it would drag the AfD too far to the left.

“The Front National is socialist, we are liberal. The Front National is nationalist, we are patriotic,” Ms von Storch said.
