sounds like a play off the emberverse series by SM stirling. in both series, it seems like northwest US (oregon/washington area) survives.
I have not read those so I will hunt them down and have a read, thanks.
time to move there? :biggrin
Too damn cold. A tropical, south seas hideaway, much more agreeable,,,think Tahiti or similar :). Captain Cook thought it was allright and his crew thought it was even better.:))
Have since learned that Birmingham's book will not be available in the U.S until early 09.
A male child - Paul Scott
The Dark Arena - Mario Puzo
Liked both of them very much. Dark Arena, along with Fools Die, are Puzo's earlier works, and much darker and more abstract than the later Mafia genre novels.
When our perils are past, shall our gratitude sleep? - George Canning sigpic
I fast-read the Fountainhead a good two years ago. Liked it too.
Right now in my longish holiday I've done:
An Utterly Impartial History of Britain
Egypt, Greece, and Rome: Civilizations of the Ancient Mediterranean (only half)
The Selfish Gene
The God Delusion
The 3 mistakes of my life
5 point someone
Emperors of the Peacock Throne.
A Theory of Everything
Eat, Pray and Love ( A crappy novel by a useless biatch)
I just about recollect 10-15% of what I read in these books. Thats me. I don't remember anything I read. Crappy memory. The plan is to finish by the end of this year the fantastic Ancestors Tale by Richard Dawkins.
Working today so I am reading through World War II: the events and their impact on real people
In a bit I am going to put in the "dramatic footage" DVD that came with it!! :)
