  • Big Ross makes Sgt

    Guys,

I'd like everybody to give Big Ross (bigross86) congratulations on making the rank of sergeant in the Israeli Defense Force!

For those of you who don't know of Ross, he was one of the first members of the board. 17, a curious chap, with an insatiable lust for military knowledge, and no doubt annoying to a few older military guys, he at one time had made over 50% of the posts this forum had in its infancy, (heh, nearly as many as he has today :)).

He later joined the Israeli Defense Force, as I believe is customary in Israel, and has shown what he's made of and has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Just talked to him via PM today -- hopefully he can drop in and tell us all about his experiences in the IDF. As far as I'm aware, he's our only IDF serviceman on the forum.

MarkAspen used to be around way back in the old days, but I haven't seen him around in ages. He lent alot of insight on Israeli military ops during the Lebanon war.

                      Question
Hey people. I'm home again for the weekend, and I'm leaving in about an hour. I'm going into Gaza later today to help clean out houses, thankfully not people. I'll be there for a couple days, then it's back to base to continue my training. I got one question though: WTF is up with all the butter cookies all of a sudden? I don't have time to read any of the threads, but all I see now is butter cookies! Some explanation, please?

And it's probably a good idea nowadays to refer to him as such. ;)

He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

Heh, when he first started participating on the forum (which was only a couple days after it was created) he was small Ross, at least in age and experience, in spite of being physically big (tall and strong). I've always interpreted the name as "Big Ross", however.

Now he's big man in many ways :) Wish I could say the same for myself.
