Dude...I was 26. Prior to that the only hard liquor I drank was various schnapps in Germany/Austria and moonshine in college. But as I said, that is almost 40 years ago. Still had to make height/weight back in those days.

Truth be told. The only mixed drink that I like is a Old Fashion made with Makers Mark or Evan Williams.

Worst drunk ever was A bottle of Kahlua and 2 pots of coffee. Like the alcoholic version a speedball.

Use to love St Pauli Girl, and would hurt small animals to get a hold of some PI Red Horse Beer.

Mostly a Boston Lager/Summer Ale, Newcastle and Guinness drinker. Until the Soju and spicy soup comes out

Red Horse!!! Just don't like that anymore than San Miguel when in the PI. Have been in a few Filipino bars, in the past, with a safety escort. Noticed that most all were drinking Red Horse. Quick drunk and then watch out. Watching Filipinas on a night on the town with their friends many drink Red Horse. I can tell you Red Horse does not make them amorous at all.

If I remember correctly, last night several cousins decided to do a Tennessee Whiskey vs Kentucky Bourbon taste test.
Not too clear on the outcome just yet. More research planned for tonight.

Tennessee Whiskey, of which Jack Daniels No. 7 is the most popular example, is straight bourbon that has been charcoal filtered to enhance the smoothness of the spirit by filtering out certain compounds that contribute to a certain harshness on the palate. Some bourbon drinkers eschew the process, saying the charcoal filtering process unnecessarily sacrifices flavor for smoothness.

IMO, I think flavor is more affected by dilution during spirit proofing than by charcoal filtering, but theoretically you could stand to lose out on some unique flavors contributed by certain compounds filtered out by the process.

Was gifted a bottle of Johnnie Walker Green Label. Don't really have any baseline for comparison, as I'm not a Scotch drinker, but quite sweet and a bit smoky at the same time. Poured myself about 2 shots in a glass, spent about 30 minutes swirling, sniffing, and sipping it. Notes of tobacco, a bit piquant on the tongue, aftertaste is a bit like having taking a puff off a sweet cigar. Not too bad.

I haven't tried the Green, but it is supposed to be one of the better JWs. A bit of smoke is very on brand for JW whiskies. JW tends to cop a lot of sneer from scotch purists (yours truly included at times), but they do a decent, approachable dram for the money. Not the best, but OK for the dough.
