I think you meant to say, "Yeah, Obama's attempt to exercise his constitutional responsibility was blown up in his face by hyper-partisan GOPers."
      Trust me?

      • So who’s next? Breyer, Thomas or the compact sack of skin and bones?

Biden said in 92 to GHW Bush that if a vacancy came open in an election year it would not be filled. They call it the Biden rule, though McConnell was the first to actually enforce it. But thats pretty typical for you. If the Dems formulate something to use against the GOP its good, if it gets used against them its bad.

Thomas is oldest, RBG is the most frail.

Nah, it was the Dems who wouldn't permit a real investigation as they sat on the information for six weeks. They also pressured Ford's friend to perjure her self, wanted everyone to ignore the evidence of innocence and demanded guilt by denuciation. They stabbed Justice in the neck with a shank and almost got away with it.

              • Pretty clear from what I read that it was Trump who stopped the FBI interviewing material witnesses. When the Executive sets limits on any law enforcement inquiry I am deeply troubled that you are on the road to despotism.

You should read less biased sources.

                    A) Dianne Feinstein had the information for 6 weeks before she revealed it. At any time from the time she got it to the reveal she could have had senate investigators take a gander. The investigators are federal law enforcement. She chose not to becuase she did not want to alert the GOP members of the senate to the impending ambush.

                    B) Jeff Flake who was playing King Maker asked for a 1 week FBI investigation looking only into the existing sexual assault allegations. The Trump administration had no role in setting the limits, Sen Flake did.

                    • regardless of all this, court-packing will now be on the Dem agenda, especially if any of the big touchstone cases start going 5-4.

and that will be a strategic loss for the conservative party-- just like the loss of the filibuster-- because at the last these institutions are meant to slow down the legislative process.

Dr Ford said that she didn't want to reveal it, so it wasn't revealed until it was actively leaked. doubt Feinstein did it, but possibly one of her staffers.

Flake asked for the limit of the week, yes, but the people and parameters of the investigation were set by the executive branch. Flake doesn't have control over what the FBI can or cannot investigate.

I was not speaking of that but understand that Dr Blasey Ford was reluctant to come forward - for the reasons that are now obvious.

So why did not they speak to all those who made allegations against Kavanaugh?

I would also say that it should impermissible for a President to nominate a Judge - any judge - while he himself is under investigation for what amounts to treason. Those who may face trial should not chose their judges.

                            There's no call for that.
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

Totally false. What was the point of the letter if she didnt want it revealed? It was meant to be considered by the judiciary committee, but Feinstein sat on it instead. What she didn’t want revealed was her identity. Had Feinstein and the lawyers not had other plans, this could have been investigated privately and Ford could have remained anonymous.

So you’re claiming the Judicairy committee has to have the scope and parameters set by the White House for every FBI background investigation done for nominees? Have you actually checked that? Because that’s what this was as well. The FBI submitted twelve 302 reports, which is the same reports submitted the other six times it investigated Kavanaugh and every other nominee, because that’s the FBI’s role here.

It’s funny how on the one hand dems like to say this isn’t a criminal investigation so due process and presumption of innocence don’t apply, then on the other expected the FBI to to handle this like a criminal investigation. Just another bullshit talking point.
