They're in the new series of Battlestar Galactica now that I think of it.

I think it was featured in Predator. One guy in Arnie's outfit had one and carried an MP5, I believe.

The weapon has its roots in a 37mm version in the 1930s I think. There was a big bit about them in 1980 when "The Dogs of War" came out. Christopher Walken carried one.

Right first I have to make sure I don't ruin anything for you since I've been watching the second season off the internet (it didn't get picked up in Australia cause our networks are small and cheap).
Have you seen 'Home Part 2' from the second season?

Is Baltar president in Australia yet?

If the answer is no, we've seen it.

No he's not, but I'd like him a lot more than John Howard.

And yeah the Caprica-version of boomer uses one to waste a centurion when they come under attack in that episode on the way to the tomb.
You 'chicks with guns' types would have loved it.

I think I saw it, but it's been awhile since that episode aired.

                  launcher & Rounds

The launcher originated in South Africa. The model which
the CORPS has adopted has longer cylinder, so it can take
a wider array of rounds, including some special ones which
are produced by a firm called Martin Electronics. Don't let
the company name throw you, they're really makers of
things like grenade fuse assemblies and special purpose
40 MM rounds. One of their rounds carries a video camera,
which feeds view of battlefield from 500 ft. while suspended
                  from chute.
From what I understand they've been using these down in
South America as well, with great effect against FARC and
                  Narco types.
