Some of my favourites are Juan Rico from Heinlein's Starship Troopers, Toranaga from Clavell's Shogun, and Faramir from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. In all cases, the characters from the books not the movies!


But I can also vote for Sir John Falstaff:
