I found this excellent book in the course of my research for another thread. Published in 1921, eerily prescient of War in the Pacific. He further expanded on the theme in The Great Pacific War, a what-if fiction novel of a hypothetical US-Japanese war in the Pacific.
Needless to say, his works were highly decisive in influencing US and Japanese military planning. The first link goes to archive.org, full book in a great format for easy reading. The link for the second book, full book in Google Books format.
Had the opportunity to read both books fully a few days ago - highly recommended.
Sea-power in the Pacific: A Study of the American-Japanese Naval Problem
The Great Pacific War: A History of the American-Japanese Campaign of 1931-1933
