Originally posted by ZFBoxcarWe had complaints about the term, and if they find it derogatory, is it really such a huge sacrifice to not use the term? Lots of insults are or are derived from non-offensive words, but you can't hide behind that when you are aware that it is an insult (if you were not aware before, you are now).
If people have an issue with it maybe the term is not Ok. But let me tell you something there is no insinuation here and Pakistan actually translates into "Pureland", it was meant to be funny and not insulting. ;)"Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. Personally, I wont take offence if somebody were to call India as Hindustan or Hinduland.
Stan == Land, right ?

Originally posted by lemontreeFunny that the word "pure" is considered an offensive word. A pity that some feel that their country's name is offensive if translated in another language.
Pure or Pak is a beautiful word and there's no abuse, offence or shame explaining what it means.
But continous use of the word by some of the master flamers here has become transparant to many. Its just sarcasm and nothing else and therefor should be avoided.

Come on dude, You know I have no issues with pakistan. Why don't you invent a term for India which is funny like "pureland" and we will be even. ;)
I don't take pleasure in calling names or getting even.
I'm past that stage ;)

As far as the result of the battle is concerned, it was a draw i think? and no body counted the exact death toll, right? I think Indians and Pakistanis should live peacefully like brothers. I really hate to see them saying bad things about each other. Personally i have visited both countries, people from both countries are loving and they don't want to fight each other. Then why some people here try to spread hatred. I think your disscusions should be positive and based on true calculations. But no one should mock about each others loss or things like that. :)
