Easier said than done. I'm not an aeronautics engineer but it seems to me that 'jamming' new avionics and software into an old air frame they weren't designed for would be almost as hard if not harder than simply competing the original project in the first place. (Unless of course the 'new' project was simply a clone of an old air frame.)
So it would seem there is no new Kowsar in the offing. It seems at best you are looking at a refurbished F-5 with a new coat of paint. If so good luck to Iran sending that up against any other air force in the region.
