    Kim Jong-Un, komm ruber!
Wir haben viele doppelbrot mit fleisch uber hier!
    Komm ruber!
    Es schmeckt dir gut!
    Komm ruber!

*He went to high school in Switzerland. Hence the German.
Calling out in German is joke #1 (Kim Jong-Un went to high school in der Schweiz).

The double bread with meat is joke #2, tempting Kim, the "inventor" of this culinary delight, with his "own creation" (joke #3).

Imagine Kim Jong-Un doing this to get at those Quad Whoppers and McQuads, this is [a fat boy] joke #4.

Building on joke #4, the reference to Conrad Schumann [komm ruber, Soldat!] leaping over the border defenses is joke #5, but swapping out the person, the country, and what they're leaping the barbed wire for, and that's the cherry on top.

“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

          • maybe AR or one of you former Army guys can answer this question.

When it comes to maintenance of the buildings splitting the border. Like repairing cracks in that concrete demarcation line, Or painting the building (noticed that its the same color on both sides),How do they work that out?

In response to the "axe murder incident", the UNC determined that instead of trimming the branches that obscured visibility, they would cut down the tree with the aid of overwhelming force.

Altogether, Task Force Vierra consisted of 813 men: almost all of the men of the United States Army Support Group, of which the Joint Security Force was a part
All this just to cut down at tree on the DMZ

What we are seeing now from Pyongyang are partial, preliminary, tactical moves. Unless there is more going on behind the scenes yet to be revealed, the North appears to be leaning unusually far forward even before the negotiations start. Whatever the discussions are like out of the public eye, in public, Kim has already given away parts of what would otherwise have been his opening negotiating position. He has ceded ground and not asked anything in return. That obviously won’t last, but for now, we need to recognize that this is not normal North Korean negotiating style. Rather than just a change of tactics, it may be the result of fundamental decisions—e.g. the new strategic line—that portend more change as the process develops.
Let's see how this new approach works out

At that point, do you really think it was about the tree?

heh, its about power but all started with just a tree. Then there was the murder which queered everything after

It's not too different to building a road through contested territory. Whether it can be done and whether the other side can block it

Norks have pulled off some very crazy things over the decades. Those SK soldiers that lost their legs over a landmine in 2015.

Attempting to take out key members of the SK cabinet when they were on a trip to Rangoon. List goes on and on

Your post open up a lot of scars.

Where does the new beginning start from then

"just a tree"...that was blocking the view of a UN Command Post, rendering the guards there vulnerable to "some very crazy things" by the peace-loving North Koreans.

If it was "just a tree", then why were two man brutally hacked to death over it?

And? Scars are excellent reminders not to do stupid shit again.

Stupid shit like the simple act of turning your back on a North Korean in order to go about your business, thinking he won't plunge an ax into it.

When North Korea actually dismantles its nuclear weapons and program and allows unfettered access to UN inspectors
"Unfettered" in this case includes any form of harassment, hassle, intimidation, stalling or stonewalling.

Until then, Fat Boy is simply setting the stage for yet another shakedown/fleecing of South Korea and the U.S. to prop up his Stalinist reign of terror.

Until then, it's business as usual for North Korea.

                        Until then, fuck them.

Dismantling is a bit unrealistic to expect right now isn't it ? all i hear talk about is stopping future work aka a freeze. I think unfettered access is doable. Has been with Iran

There are lots of negotiations by lower downs to take place first. The leaders are just going to talk about principles and define contours.

Trump meeting in June seems early, might get pushed out for later.

NK wasn't seeing itself as an equal then. It does now, apparently. If so then that will change the way they deal with this.

KJU's idea of parallel development is nuclear & economic. If he declares victory on the nuclear he's going to want to talk economy.

But is it possible that Dennis Rodman could be appointed the first US Ambassador to North Korea?

Part of my issue with the recent developments is that all the talk (and it's just talk at this point) sounds too good be true in general.
