                Within Europe this has been introduced for a couple years for plenty of regional food products. We're just trying to take over the US market as well now. Should be easy, considering the US wants free access to our market. Which they're not gonna get for free.

                  Happened with wine names years ago. Australian producers acted as if the world was coming to an end. It didn't. We just changed the name of our wines. Some got very local names. Some got descriptive ones. Some just tacked 'style' on to the old wine type. No drop off in sales. Life goes on. Its irritating, but it is easy to see why producers would want the EU to go in to bat for them. This is a 'business protecting its turf', not a 'bureaucracy gone mad' story.
