2013 Grand Slam #1 - Australian Open Women's Singles Championship

Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) defeats Na Li (China) - 4-6 6-4 6-3

Victoria Azarenka kisses her Australian Open championship trophy. But a closeup reveals...

...Ms. Azarenka's name is etched correctly, but is followed by the initials (BEL) which is the designated three-letter abbreviation for Belgium. Ms. Azarenka is from Belarus - (BLR)

It would be nice to see Andy Murray win but I think Novak Djokovic is too strong for him...hopefully I'm wrong.

Novak is in incredible form. I doubt Murray can win this one.

Murray has the first set and is playing out of his skin. Can he keep it going against such a formidable 'foe' ?

            7-6(2), 4-4 Murray

Murray is doing great so far. Djokovic is getting frustrated. Could this be a replay of the 2012 US Open final?

            7-6(2), 5-5 Murray (22 games without a service break)

Sitting at work, there's a 40" TV with the game on, pople stopping by every coupla minutes for updates

24 games, 24 holds and we have a second-set tiebreaker

                    Indeed - 7-6(2), 6-7(3)

Good match. Might come down to stamina where I give the edge to Djokovic

                        6-7(2), 7-6(3), 1-0 Djokovic

                        Momentum is swinging

Very physical match so far with strong service games. But both are beginning to fatigue.

1-1 26 games and 26 holds. I think the GS record is 48/48 Sampras/Agassi in 2001 USOpen won by Sampras.

2-2 Djokovic although he has double the number of unforced errors

In the five matches where these two have split the first two sets, Djokovic is 5-0

                          3-2 Djokovic 29/29

                          3-3 30/30

                          4-3 Djokovic

If these two split the next 2 sets, someone will have to break because there is no tiebreaker in the 5th set at Melbourne

A break at the 32 games mark. 5-3 Djokovic

                          6-3 Djokovic

                            6-7(2) | 7-6(3) | 6-3 | Djokovic

                            Murray holds 0-1 34/33

                            1-1 35/34

                            Murray double-faults @ 15-15

2-1 Djokovic. Murray will have to break soon to remain in the match

The four-hour five-set semifinal against Federer has taken a toll on Murray and it is showing

                            3-1 Djokovic

Deuce - this is a must game for Murray

4-1 Djokovic -- that about wraps it up

Murray's double-fault above was the critical moment

                            5-1 Djokovic

5-2 Djokovic who serves for the title

                            40-30 championship point.
