San Francisco calling for a boycott of Arizona

(04-26) 15:36 PDT San Francisco -- San Francisco's Board of Supervisors are calling for a sweeping boycott of Arizona in the wake of that state's harsh new rules aimed at illegal immigrants.
A resolution that will go before the board Tuesday will call for San Francisco to end any and all contracts with Arizona-based companies and to stop doing business with the state.
"We want to send a message," Supervisor David Campos told a rally on the steps of City Hall this morning. "There are consequences when you target a whole people."
Last Friday, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed a law making it a crime for an immigrant to be in the state without proof of legal residency and requiring police to seek out and detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally.
The law, which will take effect this summer, is certain to face legal challenges. President Obama has called the bill "misguided" and ordered the Justice Department to determine whether it violates civil rights.
There's no way to tell yet how a boycott of Arizona would affect San Francisco.
"We're trying to figure that out now," Campos said. "We do know that we won't be sending any city employees to conferences in Arizona."
City Attorney Dennis Herrera also called for a wide-ranging boycott of Arizona and pledged to have attorneys in his office work with the city to identify contracts with Arizona companies and help break those contracts where possible.
The boycott resolution won't be the only immigration-based measure on the board's agenda Tuesday. The supervisors also are expected to pass a resolution condemning audits by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement designed to force local employers to fire undocumented workers.
The resolution calls for Congress to place a moratorium on "piecemeal" immigration enforcement efforts and encourages Congress and the president to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill "that prioritizes keeping families together, upholding civil and human rights and promoting economic justice."

Troung calls for boycott of San Francisco, communist shithole.

Why should there be anything wrong with a state demanding that you have permission to be there? How in the world does upholding the law violate civil rights?

If it were applied equally to all residents nothing except the assumption of guilt. It won't be applied to all residents equally though will it?

and to also support them with city taxes and city dollors only? no federal or state help?

How do you know it won't be applied equally? That's a fair assumption on your part...

Besides, why should it be applied equally? It's called probable cause. If you're white and speak perfect English with an American accent, there's a fairly decent chance you're American (Hugh Laurie being the exception to the rule) If you look Hispanic, don't speak English at all or speak it with a very strong Spanish accent and are standing outside Home Depot looking for a job, there's a fairly decent chance you're an illegal alien.

Illegal alien. They identify themselves as illegal aliens, they carry their admittance of guilt in their title.

It is not enforcing the law it is how the law is enforced that may or may not be an issue and that is for the courts to decide.
The morons of Frisco have an issue with ANY road block of free travel of illegals. They have some mistaken notion that our southern border should not really exist and mexicans should be able to cross at will. California even has a state law that keeps law enforcement from dealing with illegals until they commit some other crime. Pure insanity.. I know.
California does not even question the fact that a large percentage of work in SCAL is under the table ie no taxes paid, they have prisons virtually run by the hispanic inmates, etc, huge hispanic drug and gang problems, and on and on. The enormous cost of the illegal influx is one of the reasons California is going bankrupt and for some reason Cal just doesn't get it. What is worse is that Californians want the rest of the states to be just like them. If anything I will go out of my way to avoid California and will vacation in Arizona. If only I could build a fence to keep Californians out of my state. I have no interest in living in the shit hole that California calls a utopia.
Removing a single turd from the cesspool doesn't make any difference.

                    .
Because initially it was going to be and the provision was stripped and really the temporarily detained then released lists will bear it out soon enough.

Are the Democrats TRYING to blow themselves up? Are they so sure that this position of theirs is a winner with the American People that they want to fight over a measure that has a 70+% approval rating?

Let 'em claim this as the hill they want to die on. I'm fine with this boycott, and I hope that the deep blue parts of this country ALL pledge their opposition to Arizona.

Oughta make November all the more awesome.

                        OWN it, Dems.
