  • "Waste Separation" in China

Garbage removal is primitive.chinese don't know Garbage classification.waste plastic bags is visible everywhere. The Chinese people like to use plastic bags and batteries just once and then throw them away. government pay great attention to beauty of city.they afford large money in images structure of city.but they pay little attention to garbage classification.large amounts of garbage is made by large consumption.

Waste separation is a good way to deal with waste and garbage, it can reduce the volume, and at the same time provide large amounts of organic fertilizer to farmers. It facilitates the recovery of renewable resources, minimizes waste pollution in the environment, and can create jobs for collecting waste.

Waste separation methods have generally been adopted in the Western countries, but it is difficult to find waste separation anywhere in China, even waste separation isn't seen in the capitol Beijing and the biggest city Shanghai. The great majority of Chinese people don't know about waste separation; they don't understand the words waste separation. They mix wastes such as kitchen wastes (organic waste) with plastic bags, paper, glass and batteries. The city cleaners transfer the mixed wastes to the suburbs of city and bury them simply.

Here in southside Virginia, there is a landfill near Wakefield which pumps its waste methane gas to a plant in Hopewell, VA. The plant in Hopewell then uses the methane to generate 45% of their power needs.

Took about 2 years to lay the pipe and set up the system. But they made the cost back in about 4.5 years.

That picture reminds me of Taiwan 30 years ago. Not sure if it's still like that over there. Basically the garbage collection process isn't automated enough. People need to be educated to keep their trash clean and neat before bringing them out and placing them in standardized containers provided by the waste disposal company.

you are right, but such education needs money and time.
in china, really few local governments want to afford this burden.
