  • Terrorist gets "life long" sentence from German court.

Youssef Mohamad El Hajdib, one member of the group who tried to use two suitcase bombs in a terror attack at two german rail stations got "life"-sentenced after being found guilty.

The bombs did not explode due faulty construction, but were abe to cause large casulties.

    Why not hang them rather.
Now a plane might be hijacked to secure the release or some other thing.

    BTW

How did they cause large scale casualities when they didn't explode?

We don't have the death penalty around these parts, (Western Europe).

During an attempted escape couldn't they be accidentally shot, stumble into a gas chamber and whilst falling catch their necks in rope clumsily left dangling from a beam.

And if we work in a Diana conspiracy theory the press wouldn't care about some terrorist 'accidentally' getting killed.

or while shuttling between courts and where they are held, they can attempt to escape and in the process were shot by the police

Matter of opinion, for terrorists yes it should be reintroduced after everything useful has been extracted. For standard crooks no, locking them away in complete isolation for the rest of their natural lives would be better. They suffer more and if they are later found to be innocent at least they are alive.

Matter of Opinion: Yes, of Course and I agree 100% with what your distinction between Terrorits and crooks.

But since he has been indicted as guilty by a court[not some jirga] and as Tarek mentioned, "if exploded would have caused large scale casualities",they are fit to be hanged,if only German law had allowed.

That they purposefully wanted to cause large scale casualities, is indicative enough that they are no crooks.

In this case he should be classed as a terrorist, no doubt about it.

Personally I would also class pirates as terrorists and have them facing the same punishments, authorised to be carried out by military forces (blow them out of the water).

and, at least in Germany's case, the death penalty is against the constitution.

Lock them in a concrete bunker, no windows, tell them that there is a bomb inside, if they find it and disable it you will go to jail for life, if not, tuff.
