I understand that Australia fought in this latest war against Iraq. It had its Navy, Air Force and some soldiers (SAS + others?) involved in the initial "major combat" phase and still has forces deployed.
I'm wondering just how lucky our neighbours are to have fought in a war zone with thousands dead, including 1000+ Americans and 60+ British, yet not to have a single death themselves. Have they even had any serious casualties? The US has reported 7,400 US service members wounded in hostile action up to the end of September.

Does anyone know how this has happened? I notice from the site below that two Australian journalists have been killed in Iraq, but no armed forces personnel.

I had thought their tag of "the lucky country" related to their great weather, nice beaches and mineral wealth but perhaps it is more than that. They may just be very good at what they do.
