Pakistani Air Force placed an order for 150 units & PLAAF is getting 200+. And price is set for $10-$15 million USD per unit. It's a good looking AC but can it compete with 4th Gen. fighter from the west?

The thinking was that with Pakistan's connection to the Islamic nations, pla might get some export orders. But in reality, there are enough alternative options for plaaf, that JF-17 doesn't really get any interest from them. But yeah, they will most likely be forced to order some to lower the cost of JF-17.Hala Madrid!!

Pak papers reported, they too would be placing orders for J-10 now, along with F-16s.
JF-17 has basically been China's help in starting off an aviation industry within Pakistan.
It's good enough for Pakistan's use against India and if India ever gets around to making the LCA. Once its made the usual buyers of Pakistani hardware will definitely buy. Saudis for starters.
Aren't the Rafales still to see a sale?

If anything, the J-7 series continues to be a thorn in the FC-1/JF-17 line. It offers similar performances at half the cost.
In all likelihood, there will not be massive replacements for the J-6 and J-7 series. Maintaining such large numbers of relatively low performance planes is neither cost-effective nor combat-effective. You're going to see at least a 1 for 2 if not a 1 for 3 replacement scheme. Therefore, no, the FC-1/JF-17 will never see large number service with the PLAAF. They have much better options.

One thing is for sure, they need to replace those rust buckets they call fighters as soon as possible, it's probably their biggest defence priority. They really do need to suck up to Russia in order to score some more high-tech gear, like BackFires to replace their Badgers and the like.
