    Aka, Bradys in camo.

There is a new "pro-gun" association out there, they call themselves The American Hunters and S.h.o.o.t.e.r.s. Association. According to this new group, extremists groups who defend the second amendment as it was written (like the NRA) are threatening the future of gun ownership and hunting. The Vice President of the AHSA is none other than John Rosenthal, Cofounder of Stop Handgun Violence (SHV). If you read his biography on the AHSA website, it fails to mention his association with SHV. It also fails to mention that SHV has supported every anti-second amendment rights bill since the organizations creation.

Here is some quotes from their wesite:
A common sense message From John E. Rosenthal, AHSA Executive Vice President, Shooting Resources.

As a long time shooter, conservationist and gun safety advocate, I believe most law abiding Americans have a right to own a gun to protect themselves and their families, to hunt and to enjoy the shooting sports.
    He goes on to add:
There has been a raging debate for sometime between gun control groups and some gun rights organizations about whether keeping a gun in the home for self protection is more likely to endanger the gun owner or a family member than provide emergency self protection.

This important safety issue becomes even more critical when gun crime in a community causes people to consider buying a firearm for self-protection.

The American Hunters and S******* Association does not promote nor do we discourage keeping a firearm in the home for self-protection. We believe it is inappropriate for anyone to make a one-size-fits-all recommendation that an individual in Maryland, Texas, California or Massachusetts should or should not keep a firearm in the home.

In deciding whether a firearm in the home is a risk or a benefit, four common sense factors must be considered:

Is a firearm in the home more likely to be used to protect its owner or is it more likely to be used against a member of the household?

How frequently are guns used for self-protection?

How effective are handguns when they are used for self-protection?

Overall, how safe are guns in the home?

There are certain factors that weigh heavily against keeping a gun in the home for self-protection. One of the most widely quoted statements about guns is that a firearm kept in the home is 43 times more likely to kill a family member than an intruder. This comes from the Journal of Medicine in 1986, following a six-year review of gunshot deaths in Seattle, Washington, conducted by Dr. Arthur Kellermann and others. The validity of this study in determining the value and risk of firearms for home protection has been questioned. The Kellermann study focused only on defensive gun uses where the criminal intruder was shot and killed. Instances in which intruders or assailants were wounded or frightened away were not included.
This is their statement about the second amendment:
These 27 words protect the rights of Americans to own and use guns. The American Hunters and S******* Association is committed to these words and the ideas and principals behind them. Protecting our homes, preserving our liberties, hunting, and sport shooting are American values that AHSA will vigorously defend.

But, there is no constitutional right to arms for criminals, terrorists, or others who seek to abuse the very freedoms the Constitution guarantees.

According to legal memoranda filed in court by the United States Justice Department, the Second Amendment allows for the passage of reasonable laws designed to keep guns out of the wrong hands.

Under the Constitution and laws of the United States, gun ownership is a protected right. But it is a right that when exercised requires the utmost in responsibility and vigilance.

In formulating AHSA legislative policy the AHSA Board of Directors will always weigh the common sense interest of hunters and s******* against basic safety and security interests of our community at large. In this way a rational, well thought out approach to firearms policy will be developed and promoted.

...AHSA believes the FBI should be given reasonable access to National Instant Check System (NICS) purchase records to insure terrorists and other prohibited individuals do not have access to firearms.

...AHSA supports requiring all transfers of firearms at gun shows to be subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations currently applicable to federally licensed firearm dealers including the conducting of the instant background check on purchasers.

...AHSA supports legislative efforts to regulate .50 caliber BMG sniper rifles in the same manner as machine guns are regulated under the provisions of the National Firearms Act of 1934.
According to a 2003 Field & Stream National Hunting Survey, sportsmen overwhelmingly support reasonable gun safety proposals. Moreover, an overwhelming majority of hunters support proposals like background checks to purchase guns, keeping military style assault weapons off our streets and the elimination of cop killer bullets.

In recent years, extreme political positions purporting to support gun rights have jeopardized our sport and have hurt the image of responsible gun owners. Unless the sporting community can become unified behind an organization that fights for safe and responsible hunting and shooting practices and sensible gun ownership, future generations may be unable to participate in and enjoy the shooting sports.

Americans who love the outdoors and the shooting sports deserve an organization that represents their views, avoids angry political rhetoric and delivers well thought out, rational programs and policy proposals.

We believe sportsmen and sportswomen overwhelmingly agree that an organization that brings the right message to policy makers on such issues as the safe use of firearms, our environment and protecting and training our nation’s first responders is long overdue.
    These guys are phonies, beware!

This just proves the gun grabbers will stop at nothing to further their agenda to take away our constitutional rights.

He may even miscalculate and slide these weapons off to terrorist groups to invite them to be a surrogate to use them against the United States. It’s the miscalculation that poses the greatest threat-John Kerry
