I sent that link to Mike Weidenbach, the museum curator of the Battleship Missouri in Hawaii. He was very thankful for it and they say they already are trying to contact somebody in Moscow to send them a full size copy.

"Any relations in a social order will endure if there is infused into them some of that spirit of human sympathy, which qualifies life for immortality." ~ George William Russell
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”
Even long after they've retired Mo she still has awesome diplomatic value and certainly an American naval icon. ;) Agreed look at the other stories...lmao
In August last year, the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper also spotted posters around Moscow meant to mark Russian Navy Day depicting a Knox class frigate, a class of U.S. Navy ships
Fortitude.....The strength to persist...The courage to endure.
Yeah well the Iowas are all decommissioned or mothballed, so the Kirov wins.
Five Kirovs were laid down, only 4 were completed.
Admiral Ushakov (ex-Kirov) had a reactor "accident" in the early 1990s and was cannabalized for parts.
Admiral Lazarev (ex-Frunze) is out of service for a decade and will be scrapped.
Admiral Nakhimov (ex-Kalinin) is the only active Kirov.
Petr Veliky was laid up soon after completing sea trials.
The 5th ship was scrapped on the ways.
At least 2 of the 4 Iowas can be reactivated. Their names were reinstated back to the Navy's registry. That means something.
There was an analysis on the armament prowess of the Kirovs. They are not as formidible as people think. Without over the horizon guidance, they actually pack less fire power than one of our VLS cruiser/destroyer.
"Only Nixon can go to China." -- Old Vulcan proverb.
Two completely different classes of ship all together so it negates any arguement : )~~. Especially with the Iowas being almost thirty years older then the Kirovs.
