You should email them, detail your criticism's and provide them with the list of names while explaining what sources you used to identify the officers concerned.Rather disappointing New York Times article on Xi’s purge of the PLA: “China’s Disappearing Generals,” (Feb 3, 2026) by Amy Chang Chien, Agnes Chang and the usually good Chris Buckley.
The graphics has a color-coded presentation of who’s under investigation, expelled, disappeared, and active; as well as vacant positions that haven’t been filled. What’s disappointing is that only two of the pictures have names attached (and, not even in the on-line version).
Defining what's meant by "disappeared" is a key starting point. Is there some arbitrary six week (more? less?) period when certain senior officials are supposed to be in the public eye? Says who, and why?
More, from my own records I was able to identify 10 of the 16 “missing” (disappeared or vacant) officers.
Pretty sloppy work, NYT !
