Well Done Will Smith, well done indeed!

Even back in the Bob Hope and Johnny Carson days of hosting the Oscar presentations, there were small humorous digs at the celebrities present.
But that was it, they were small and humorous, the recipient knew that, as did the audience.
What Chris Rock did was deliberately strike at a woman; a very attractive woman, hair or no hair, who because of illness had lost much of her hair,
and therefore decided to shave it all off.
He didn’t go after the celebrity, no, like the sleaze-ball he is, he directed his barb at what he must have known was the wife’s weak point.
Smith did as any man or woman would if their near and dear were attacked, he reacted. He could have slugged Rock using his fist,
but no he “bitch-slapped” him once. Nothing could be more contemptuous then that!
That Rock meant every word became clear when he tried to save the situation by declaring it was a “G.I. Jane” joke.
But by tying Smiths wife into his “joke” that lame excuse falls flat on its face.
Now there’s talk of having the Academy revoking Smith his Oscar.
Fat chance!
The same Academy that has turned a blind eye to having two known pedophiles; Woody Allen and Roman Polanski, among its recipients,
would truly become a laughing stock. In accepting pedophilia, while sanctioning a man who was defending his wife, from a verbal attack.

According to Fox "News," the view above is typical of the liberal media.

I make no judgement on the above comment; just pointing out what the pro-insurrectionist, pro-Putin crowd think.

Today's comedians don't hold a candle to the savagery of Bob Hope and Johnny Carson Days. Just google Dean Martin's Celebrety Roast on Youtube. The entire show wouldn't be allowed today with the racist/homophobic/class/barefoot-and-pregnant jokes flying left, right, and centre and the targets, ranging from Ronald Reagan to John Wayne to Sammy Davis Jr to Richard Pryor to Don Rickells were trying to out-insult each other whether they were the receiving end or not.

And I was laughing my ass off.

Not sure it was worth assaulting someone over a (bad) joke about a hairstyle but either way Rock would have been perfectly entitled to respond with equal if not more force. Imagine the shit storm if it had been a white comedian who made the joke.

I have this thing about people mocking and making fun of the physical differences or other such disabilities.

You see, at their core, they're just bullies, and I hate bullies to begin with.

But the ones that like to do what Chris Rock did and then pass it off as "just joking"? I despise them with every fiber of my being.

I wouldn't have bitch-slapped him like Will Smith did. I would've clubbed him to the floor and then kicked him the ribs a few times, just see how he likes being bullied himself.

Chris Rock and shit stains like him that think joking about a person's disability can go fuck themselves with a chainsaw.

I haven't actually bothered to watch the incident, only heard a summery (I'm literally that disinterested). Apparently if that was correct Rock compared Smith' wife's haircut to was it Demi Moore's haircut in in GI Jane? If it was my wife I would have made my opinion of his comments crystal clear (and he certainly had both the perfect opportunity and stage to do it on). But IMO using physical violence was uncalled for.

As much as I love to see a bully face the consequences of their actions, and in a paradoxical contrast to what I said above...you're right. Will Smith shouldn't have done what he did. It only made things worse for him and showed an ugly side to every person who watched it.

(Jada Pinkett suffers from alopecia, which is why she buzzed her hair short like that)

Now if only Rock had known that he would have kept his trap shut.

I don't know if he did or not. I'm leaning towards "he did", given she's been open about it, but I have no proof at the moment either way.

And given that it's Chris Rock, I think would've said it anyway.

I wonder how the french princess would react to this

A few observations:

* I have never thought Chris Rock was that funny. No reason to change that opinion.

* I have long suspected Will Smith is an egotistical dickhead. Suspicion confirmed.

* Will Smith has always known which side his bread is buttered on, thus the tearful appeal to the old white guys of the Academy not to be angry at him.

* Violence can never be an appropriate response to words, this is no exception. That idea is one of the the starting points for a world of bad/terrible/evil behaviour that emerges from 'if my feels are upset I can hit someone'.

* 'Open' marriages and fragile male egos are a bad mix.

Anyone who thinks this was really about Jada's hair is having themselves on. Will Smith is a supreme egotist who was happy enough when his wife gave him a pass to sleep around, but then discovered it doesn't feel so great when your wife prefers a guy young enough to be your son....and possibly a comedian you have worked with on & off since you were both young.

While rumour can never be trusted, the suggestion that it wasn't Jada's name in Rock's mouth that Will was really upset about just got more credible.

To recap: Egotistical and unfaithful manbaby gets cuckolded by his wife; assaults one of her possible lovers in front of one of the biggest TV audiences of the year; begs a bunch of old white guys to please still like him (and not damage his lucrative career); claims it was all about 'love'.

Quote of the day from an anonymous twitter user:

All I know is that Will Smith's wife's boyfriend must be so grateful that he stood up for their woman.

In 2018, Pinkett Smith revealed that she had been diagnosed with alopecia.[SUP][89][/SUP] She shared a video on her Instagram account in 2021 showing herself with a shaved head, saying "Now at this point, I can only laugh.”

Now, reconsider Chris Rock’s “sense of humor.”

The daughter of a good friend, and granddaughter of one of my best friends, has suffered from alopecia since she was 6. That amazing young girl has been amazingly strong. Her family has been very supportive...her older sister switched to a short hair style to support her sister. Her entire grade school class has been great.

But i fear for that young lady once she hits junior high school and the toxicity of high school.

People just suck.

I had a friend in high school that was mercilessly bullied for a physical difference. It was just unbelievable what this kid went through. He would point to the worst offenders and mutter things like "I'm gonna that motherfuck*r and I'm gonna kill that motherfuck*r...."

I lost track of him after graduation but found out many years later that he'd gotten addicted to heroin and while he eventually managed to get clean, he was basically a wreck of a human being.

Did one see that one director who said in a tweet, since deleted, that Smith could have killed Rock. Seriously. All this coming from, of all places Hollywood, where many of their films are incredibly violent. As though make believe has zero effects on minds.

The whole thing is how many angels can dance on the head of a pin...an answer I don't care about.

I’m at a loss as to how the effect of a liberal media is reflected in what I wrote,
My reaction to what in essence simply was as an upper-class Hollywood version of a bar fight.
But then again it’s Fox!!!

That video; even more so than his “it’s a joke “crack, shows that he knew which button to press to cause most discomfort. Given how cliquey, Hollywood is reputed to be, together with file-sharing, he must have been aware of the video.

When I mentioned Hope and Carson it was solely in relation to the venue. The Oscar Gala Show they hosted on numerous occasions.
It may be memories of events that lie 50 years in the past may be faulty, in that while they quipped at the celebs present they were never (at least to my memory) malicious or directed at their families.
Oh yes I’ve seen some of the roasts, and yes at those occasions the gloves came off, but correct me if I’m wrong, still no maliciousness. Case in point: when it was Sinatra’s turn to be roasted and boy did he get roasted! Sinatra had a reputation of not forgetting a wrong (Kennedy, Lawford!), yet he took the roast in stride.

By now having seen the set-to a couple of times, I still maintain he acted, if not correct, than at least what his self-respect told him to do.
Looking at the video you can see how the Yahoo’s barb affected his wife; hurt and insulted before the entire world, probably what pushed her husband’s button,
because the next we see is him heading down the aisle.
Did he know that there would be repercussions? I would like to think so, after all TANSTAAFL in some form or the other, is bound to exist even in Never-Neverland?
Everything comes with a price!
Probably why he bit the bullet and apologized to the yahoo the day after, part payment.

No doubt about it, using your fists to settle an argument is a great way to wind up in front of a judge.
