Unknown to you, last week LCpl Smuckatelli got a speeding ticket from the California Highway Patrol. Speed in excess of 100 MPH over the limit. So Staff Sgt Hardcorp had to go pick him up.

Unfortunately the SSgt got a DUI on the way to the station. Their court appearance is next week. Coincidently, the are both members of the firing battery that was involved in the Dog and Pony show.

Not saying that this was a reminder to CHiP that the King of Battle has a long and deadly reach. But who knows.

The E-3 Mafia claims that charges against both Artillery Marines have been dropped
I had to call a patient, former Marine Lt. in artillery, to rib him about this.

So, Monash, what are these things called Anzac biscuits? A patient just came back from Oz and brought me a tin. Says "a reminder of the love reserved for the men and women of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps by their cherished friends and family back home."

Historically they were simple biscuits with a long shelf life that could be sent from home to troops fighting at the front during WW1 and be expected to survive the trip or which could be easily baked behind the lines. Originally they were just golden syrup (light sugar syrup) as the binding agent and rolled oats. Quite tasty actually.

Sweetness tends to vary from brand to brand and the type of syrup used as the binder but they were never super sweet. They are durable though and go well with a cup of tea or coffee! I like them anyway. If you want sweet with a capital S? You should try to get your hands on a packet of Tim Tams, the tradition being you can nibble off both ends and then use the rest of the biscuit itself as a straw in your coffee. Warning - it won't hold together for long!
