Possible Coup By PLA Rumored In China

I'm going to stick my neck out early on this one and call BS.


One report (is there more than one?) says General Li Qiaoming is the successor. Li was commander of the Northern Theater Command for five years (to September 2022), and the youngest commander at that level. He was promoted after just seven months as commander of that theater's ground forces. He is a member of the central committee, but hasn't been assigned a new job as yet.

Li was the only theater commander removed from his post this month, suggesting perhaps that General Li is slated for a higher post at the 20[SUP]th[/SUP] National Party Congress.
Possibly MAC Vice Chair and Politburo member, although there are other candidates.

Sounds like a PLA exercise and a few other unrelated events combined to make it a "coup" that didn't exist. Pretty startling though...
