Part II
My great surprise was to learn that Wikipedia and Google “are your friends,” since that is exactly the source (googling wikipedia) that led to my comment about the origins of what we know a détente. In other words, I used the proper sources to defend my point.
I am also informed that I should “prepare to get some abuse,” but that seems to be something of a one-way street. I can be called a troll, but I can’t ask a moderator to stick to debating rather than name-calling.
I’m told to “be yourself,” which I try to do at all times. For example, since I have over 30 years of professional experience understanding and interpreting 20th (and now, 21st) century China, I made that point. It wasn’t accepted, nor appreciated. Odd.
As for the infractions and point system, no luck.
Finally, I got to Forum Guidelines, where Rule No. 10 is that one cannot criticize a moderator’s actions. There is nothing there about criticizing moderators’ posts, however, so I kept looking.
