  • Question: On Tuesday I have a patient coming in who served in Germany during the 80's and left as a Colonel. Now I can't say do you know so and so when you don't know so and so's name. However, what unit were you with and I could run that by him. We get along really well and think he has way too much respect for me as an ordinary O.D. Oh, he is a West Point grad name of Connolly.

I don't know if you looked at that video I put up in Field Mess cause half way in there is lot's of talk on force structure and what each command wants. Both guys discussing it are retired Navy officers talking about what could result from this essay so to speak.

    Hey Mike,

I was in the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry/4th Battalion, 16th Infantry (we changed designation in March 1983), 1st Infantry Division (Forward), Goeppingen, GE from OCT 1981-1984. Went to FT Benning for initial Officer training March - SEP 81. Returned OCT 84 - JUN 85 to Benning for more schooling. Then I was at FT Stewart, GA, JUL 85-JUN 89 in 3rd Battalion, 19th Infantry, 2nd Brigade & G3 24th Infantry Division as well as Bradley Fielding Team. From there headed to FT Lee and have been here since.

I haven't seen the video. I'll head over & check it out!

Got a third of the way through the video talking 2025 when the guys building a fence in my yard cut my cable and I lost internet. Working off a hotspot now. I am in about 75% agreement with those guys in theory...but I have always considered Heritage & Cato as the Anti-Christ!

Haven't got a chance to look at force structure info and looking forward to it. I am intrigued to know what a Squid brown & black shoe think about Army force structure!!!

Ok, so 13 days there? I was thinking 10 days over a school break so no 4 days in Dublin. Big city, technically anyway, and rather get out into the countryside. So did you rent a car to head west? If so then what were the roads like, driving on the left, and traffic once headed west? I am not a bus tour person since I like to stop at whatever catches my attention.

We were on our own in Dublin and met with a tour group in Ennis and spent 10 days with them. Yeah it was a bus but it was a small group and it was wonderful. We used AHI. My wife used them in 2018 to go to Africa on a safari.Superb experience. I didn't drive. Roads are good but they get small quickly. We were strictly southwest coast. A lot of alumni associations run great tours. That's how we found AHI. They can tailor tours I think.
    Buck,

Don't you DARE send me a "friend" request. As long as you've got the whisky, I've got a friend.:))

So what exactly is the problem of commenting on an old post THAT HAS NOT BEEN CLOSED DOWN OFFICIALLY and that even if it were closed down comprises some FLAWS (errors, mistakes, interpretation faults, etc) which invites to comments ?
A forum is a forum. And a posted thread on the internet that has not been taken away is like a continuously screaming poster on a busy crossroad. Even if the original text is from years ago.
If there are old threads filled with crap (and I assume there are plenty of them here around..even the "live" threads) then instead of "closing" them; take it all away from the internet.
    Without a trace.
Then you (whoever controls the moderators) do a proper clean up job.

From the consecutive comments I got the impression I am dealing with adolescents here, who yet dare to be claiming to be "military professionals".
I guess playing single person shooter games on the computer makes Americans already a military professional.
    Buck,
Can you check out the Robert E. Lee "quote" I posted and verify it either as fact or historical fiction? Thanks.
