In the poll I voted 'comfortably numb'. Not only evocative lyrics, but two of the most beautiful guitar solos you will ever hear.
Ditto about the solos. We had a debate about the greatest guitar solo ever the other day, and it came down to a deadlock between "Comfortably Numb" and "Hotel California."
Yea but one of my other "Favorite Bands" has a few good ones also.
Pig - Me and the Whore
One white duck=nothing at all
From a dead beat to an old geezer
Anyone know the band? They have been together a long time, and its a well known group.
Jethro Tull. One of my favorites. I saw them in concert a few times in the mid-late 1970s. I wore out two copies of Aqualung, still have the third (with no turntable to play it on). But I am probably most partial to their song "Hunting Girl."
wish you were here. 1982, Omarama, floating around in the McCaws glider with a ghetto blaster hammering it out. I wish I was still. Now I have to go download it.
In the realm of spirit, seek clarity; in the material world, seek utility.
Wish you were Here
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
Another Brick in the Wall
We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
"Wrong, Do it again!"
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you
have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"
For Gallifrey! For Victory! For the end of time itself!!
Comfortably Numb, but Wish You Were Here was a very close second. Overall I think Dark side of the Moon was a better album than the Wall though. One of my favorite Floyd albums is "Animals"
