bah, its out of date, there have been some major armor advancements in the past 2 years that throw all the old rules of thumb out of the window.

Most heavily protected tank in the world is Canadian- Leopard 2A6M+ I don't know the official designation of such a designation even exists but its a 2A6M fitted with even more mine and side protection.

Picking out a real number 1 is impossible at this point. But if I had to hazard an overall guess for a western tank Canada gets the nod and the T-90M wins hands down for T series.
