Truthfully ground combat as we know wouldn't really exist in a soceity where instellar travel is commonplace. Imagine the difficulties in transporting enough troops to take an entire planet. It took 150,000 troops to invade a secure Iraq which only has 20 million people and a piss poor military, imagine invading a planet with a population in the billions and large professional militaries. Unless you enjoy massive technological advantages it's a tough proposition. -
One of the things that keeps my overly-critical mind quiet during AOTC is figuring that since the Jedi had kept the peace in the Old Republic for "over a thousand generations", plain and simple no one knew how to fight a war anymore. So silly stuff is okay.

I agree completely with this Administration’s goal of a regime change in Iraq-John Kerry
even if that enforcement is mostly at the hands of the United States, a right we retain even if the Security Council fails to act-John Kerry
He may even miscalculate and slide these weapons off to terrorist groups to invite them to be a surrogate to use them against the United States. It’s the miscalculation that poses the greatest threat-John KerryComment
