Nothing like good barn cats. They are the best "ratters" feed em, give them their shots, neuter and turn them lose and treat them as normal.

Perhaps you are right.

Just in a college town, these two seem like a case of pet abandonment. One can get within 2-3 feet of them before they will move off. Not going to reach down to pet them, though, until, at least, they start coiling around my ankles...which they have not done yet.

In any event, should I suddenly disappear, we-ll............

Got to make this quick but I wanted to get it going in the minds of the collective.

I have two semi feral cats (caught, fixed, released) I am trying to get to adopt me so I can get them off the street. Problem is, there is only space for one more pet on my lease. I can probably push it in trying to get them servants (ie, owners), but what if I can't?

Well, there is my ranch of 10 acres. Has the well but isn't ready at all for me to live there.

But what about a very little place for them? Is that possible, do they make such things?

Of course, I know there are many more problems than that for them out at the ranch such as the neighbors' chickens, dogs, coyotes, silver foxes, hawks, buzzards, etc., but one approach at a time.

Thoughts?

I agree with the Colonel. These would make great mousers in the property but would be far more trouble than what they are worth anywhere else. The timing just isn't right. The good news is that cats are a dime a dozen so when you have more room and inclination adding a cat or two, or three, isn't difficult.

Leave them be. They're feral. They're not pets. They'll be a pest locked up. Let them live and die as they see fit.
