Just a heads up. This is a new concoction with a codeine base used as a cheap substitute for heroin. Krokodile (crocodile in English) is very bad in Russia and now ~10 cases have been reported in the United States. The high is intense but only lasts for an hour or so. It can be made in the kitchen. Perhaps the most horrible thing about Krokodile is that it creates lesions that eat the flesh away. This is known as shedding krokodile tears...

Watched a video some time ago about its impact in Russia. Horrific and a heroin death trip times ten.

Heard about this last week; go here for a fairly graphic article in the Daily Mail about a couple of sisters in Illinois who were heroin addicts, and started doing Krokodile about a year ago.
WARNING: The pictures in this article are fairly graphic, not for the feint of heart!"There is never enough time to do or say all the things that we would wish. If this stuff kills between 3 months and 2 years, then the whole userbase would be extinct in a few years.
Don't know if the drug, or the chemical contamination from the production is to blame though. After all junkies aren't the most reliable chemists in my opinion.

Desomorphine krokodil is a homemade drug, combining Codeine with lighter fluid, gasoline, paint thinner, alcohol and other ingredients.

people make it themselves. It poses an additional threat similar to home meth labs in that people are mixing and cooking volatile chemicals in environments unsafe for that kind of work- think kitchens in poorly maintained apartments or housing developments, motel rooms, garages. We've received notices about it, but I haven't yet run into a user. Its really sad to see how low people will sink once addiction has got ahold of them. Particularly opioid addictions.

Or does the production of this stuff come with similar consequences to the production of meth such as exploding kitchens, illegal toxic waste dumps, contaminated housing, or perhaps just spillover fire as SWAT raids the house of one's neighbor?
Think of all the stuff an addict might do to obtain their next fix (and if one is addicted to this stuff, they are pretty desperate) and one can probably come up with many situations where it is just not the addict affected.

I do realize that addicts do not live in a vacuum. What they do does affect others in some form. To what extent is sometimes hard to gauge. However when it comes to the actual act of filling a needle with poison and injecting it in their body...that is all on the addict.Removing a single turd from the cesspool doesn't make any difference.

Bonehead, in the US codeine is already a prescription only drug. So we are looking at dirty pharmacies or its being brought in from Canada/Mexico.
