Tell me this is on top of your 'doomsday list of necessities' you have posted sometime last year IIRC.

I've been expanding have started building a mirror image kit using the old hiking pack that will be stored in the team trailer in case I cannot deploy with the team. I am also writing for an AED grant (fingers crossed). Also if I understood the ambulance inspector right, Arkansas is adopting national laws regarding EMT-B's which will provide me another route to get my hands on epi-pens. I hope to find a way to fit in emt training as I also pursue my masters....

I wont cross my fingers, you only have my faith. You have shown will and determination in many aspects before, that I am totally positive you can and will make it.

Just not sure how it is regulated in your state as well as in USA in general. Over here, you'd need a full 4 year school for nurses.

We have different levels of nursing, but I am not interested in a nursing path. EMT overhear is a separate field that starts with certified first responder, then emergency medical technicians, then paramedic. I want to be an EMT-W eventually for use in disasters.

You may want to look into a Wilderness first responder. Takes less than a week in most cases and you will learn a whole lot of ways to take care of a patient when they can't get to a hospital right away.
Removing a single turd from the cesspool doesn't make any difference.

Already have the manual used for WFR by the national ski patrol. Sadly, no one around here offers the course for certification so I need to go the EMT-W route.

I got mine via a deal with my college and NOLS years ago. Most of us in the program were already 80-90% trained as a WFR so we were able to take a fast paced, short and intense seminar. Hands on and tons of inside info from those who have decades of experience in SAR, back country first aid, and ski patrol. They teach you how to make due when you don't have access to all the fancy first aid items.
What no wilderness areas in Arkansas? What a shame.

I used to carry this around (scope+BP cuff is missing in the picture) but have since stopped.

plenty of rural, no real wilderness but the Ozarks. the people there who want it bring in people people from outside the state or hold rare classes on it. I meant nothign local to me that I can reasonably expect to get to. Same with sartech training.

No ambu bags yet, coming soon. Airway kit I have right not is oral and nose tubes. need pediatric and infant.

Nothing to run IV's, no one on my team but the nurses is allowed to do that.

zraver, what are you working as? Caveat: I'm not familiar with the American paramedic/nurse scene and delineation of medical authority.

I am a masters student at the moment. A member of two different groups. Yankee 1 a volunteer SAR/disaster relief team and the Faulkner County Rescue Squad.

I think the question was more in regards to what type of medical certifications you hold.

I sort of wondered myself. There are a few things in your jump bag that, at least in my state require, at a min, EMT certification to use. And more that a few that are paramedic and above.
