I was in Singapore last week, and we had this Chinese ceremony carried out at our table...mixing of foods in a salad form. I forgot what it was called, but it was yummy....

They sea food was awesome at this riverside eatery.
This was along the Clarke Quay,...opposite the Marina Bay hotel (the one with three buildings topped by a boat shaped structure).
The area has almost 600 pubs and eateries...quite a party place.

Getting ready for an insulin shot tomorrow. I just love these:
Orange Peels Preserve
Needed:
Orange peels (try using smaller oranges)
150gr of sugar for every 100gr of peels
water (enough to cover the sugar)
Sodium Bicarbonate - (baking soda)
lemon juice (~1 tablespoon per 1kg sugar)
a needle and a leader (for fishing)
Preparation:
1. Note: you'll get better results with smaller oranges with smooth peels. (I know I said that already, just making sure you follow:Dancing-Banana:)
2. On the scouring side of sponge for dishes put baking soda and rub the oranges (with this you will remove the bitter part of the peel)
3. Remove the part where the orange was connected with the tree (cut a circle)
4. Cut the peel in thin stripes not wider then 10mm (slightly less then 1/2")
5. Roll each of the stripes in a small spiral, then use the needle and the leader to thread them.
6. Put the sugar in a pot, cover it with water and make it boil. Stir occasionally. Once it is boiled, put the peels in it. Boil for another 20 minutes after it starts boiling again (it will calm when you put the peels).
7. Add the lemon juice (prevents crystallization) then let it boil for another 10 mins.
8. Carefully remove the leader and then put the ingredients in jars. Close the jars with metal lids and put it in oven on 75C (167F) for 30 minutes.
9. Turn off the oven and leave the jars until totally cooled.
10. Eat tomorrow :
Note #2: Prepare smaller jars, because if you are anything like me, you wont stop until you finish the jar :bang:
Note#3: Here this is accepted as a Turkish dessert, but if you are around some Greek, don't tell them.Attached FilesLast edited by Doktor; 14 Feb 13,, 01:15.No such thing as a good tax - Churchill

That works for a surprising amount of stuff. being a contrarian by nature I always ask for 'Tzatziki' dip in Turkish food stores & 'Cacik' dip in Greek food stores. Stirs the native up no end.No such thing as a good tax - Churchill

Got my boys and families coming tomorrow for the weekend and copious amounts of hot hot food will be consumed. The scotch bonnets and thai chillies will be visiting Mr and Mrs lamb shoulder and chicken fillets, and a delicious coconut milk rice will be the bridesmaid. If could find some okra that would be a bonus but I am not confident of finding this within twenty miles of my little town. I have yogurt, paneer, flat breads, roast sweet potato and other delicacies.
