This was a greyhound bus fom NYC to Toronto.. Wherever greyhound enters Canada from the US.

The Canadians i met disagreed that Toronto was clean. For them Ottawa was cleaner. But my frame of reference was NYC.

My experience is limited to the east coast. Going as far west as OH, as far south as DC (nice crabs there. Clams and beer on the shore. never seen such big clams before) and as far north as VT (spent new years on the slopes).

Didn't notice too much difference. Regional variations, smaller cities but not as stark as entering Canada.

    • I feel bad for the people of La. The hurricane has been hitting them all day

While Michael was stronger, it moved faster. From first hurricane force winds to last was only about 4 hours.

      • And 16 years to the day from Katrina has to be a real gut punch. Reports of damage are horrifying. At least the levees appear to be holding and not much flooding beyond storm surge is being reported.

The case is getting a bit delayed. The woman fled two days before the first court session.

          • Didn't want to start a new thread in the Aviation/Navy thread.

USMC F-35s will fly from the Japanese Izumo.

            • Shortage of HGV drivers in England is manifesting itself in a different way. Using photos of produce to fill up empty shelves in supermarkets !!

Just saw this - how does a 95 year old manage to 'flee' anywhere? It must have been the slowest Police pursuit in history!

                • She took a taxi to a subway station and spent the day somewhere in Hamburg instead of appearing in court ;-)

Trial started at 10:30 am, by 10:45 the court issued an arrest order for her, at 12:30 the trial was suspended and postponed to two weeks later, and by 14:30 police had arrested her and brought her in. The court had her checked for medical fitness, then issued an order to have her in jail for the duration of the trial due to fleeing.

Yes, as I more or less as expected. Hardly the 'Great Escape' version 2021. And at 95 years of age I can almost understand why she did it, albeit she might have been better off just throwing herself under the subway train when she had the chance.

                    • Some very badly needed humour. I lost my brother to a heart attack. I've been made the Executor of his Estate and the vultures have been circling. I did not imagine my extended family to be this full of entitled Karens and Chads.

However, I've been laughing my head off this past hour. My brother made sure I've got a hold of external 5 TB hard drive before anyone else could. The reason? It was full of porn. Only trust your brother to get rid of the evidence.

As Executor its your solemn duty to review all of that data then divide it up equally between all the beneficiaries. I suppose you could contact them first and ask them all what their 'preferences' were but that's up to you. Regardless they get it whether they want it or not.

You are (technically) I suppose obliged to give pass it on to them. Doesn't mean you have to tell them whats in the content of whatever medium it is you choose to delver it in. Or for that matter that you have to provide them with the means of accessing it!

As an aside BTW. 5 terabytes of porn !!!!!!!

Regardless of the digs above my sincere condolences for your loss. I haven't lost a sibling yet, but I have lost my parents. And all I know is that every single death of someone close to me has been like part of my own life disappearing. I'm actually not sure I want to be the 'last man standing' because if that happens all it will really mean is that my life will have nothing left, it will be hollow.

Thank you. I think my parents take it the hardest. You're not supposed to bury your kids, especially at their age. Still, there are nights when a good bottle of scotch takes the edge off things.

And on the plus side you've also got plenty of new 'films' to watch courtesy of your brother.
