You should try watching mahjong. My wife likes to watch mahjong on a Filipino channel lately versus Chinese dramas. Been doing it for months when see gets home from work. Doesn't get old yet I don't see the attraction so no TV for me. Either I read or go to my subscriptions on YouTube.

            • I've played Mahjong but watching someone else play sounds boring, like watching the Poker Championships or worse Golf.

I had surgery yesterday. So if some of my post get bad with spelling or you get the Where is he going with this feeling, I am blaming it on the Vicodin.

Minor stuff, had a umbilical hernia fixed. Trying to get all the little things I have wrong fixed before I retire

              • Feel better soon, Gunny.

Yesterday I completed almost 48 years either in or working for the US Army. It started at a National Guard armory in Kingwood, WV, in AUG 1976. It's been a great run! There were more homers than strikeouts. My career was less Casey at the Bat and more Roy Hobbs.

Got most of my ills cured before retirement but only have my knees left. I am hoping for August for 1 and late October for the other. Love me some Medicare and federal health insurance!

And I'm like you....I can't watch others play board games. Golf is okay but much prefer hockey.

For whatever reason she really get into watching the one hand she is able to see. She narrates to herself as the hand is played and if the player makes a bad move she is all over it saying "stupid". I think part of it is that money is being wagered and I have met very few Filipinas who aren't interested in any gambling games. My wife loves to play blackjack and she is very good at it and never loses her money. The casinos start her off with $25 or $50 to bet and she parlays it from there. If she loses then all she lost was the casinos original stake. However, her friends are another story.

Example: Last Sunday when coming home from camping with another Filipino family she stopped by Hard Rock Casino where she had $25 free play on the slots. She won $200 on $7 of their money and then cashed out. So this Friday we will go up to Cache Creek (her monthly free room) to spend the night and use the $200 for our dinner and breakfast. She will play Texas Hold 'Em Friday night.

                  • I found an interesting add today.
This guy sells manual lathe for 3000 euros. It is made in 1894 and its in working condition. Guess they didn't know how wonderful planned obsolescence is and how sad state is of Germany's industry today is.

                    • Kind of a niche sale space. Th entire rig would be made of high carbon steel so it's hardly going to fall apart any time soon and its being sold separately to the now (non existent) stream engine, gear box and drive train that would have powered it.
If you are emotionally invested in 'believing' something is true you have lost the ability to tell if it is true.

                              • Let me guess that this is about that big bird the Emu. I haven't looked into the background but I will say I back the animal, since in animal vs. man, the animal is usually in the right.
