    Always happy to help.
If you are emotionally invested in 'believing' something is true you have lost the ability to tell if it is true.

    • Happy New Year!

In Chinese, 'chu xi' (除夕) means new year's eve as art of the Chinese lunar new year festival, with the connotation of getting rid of the old year and starting a new one. But xi also sounds like Xi, the dictator's surname, even though his name is written with a different character: 习.

      The censors are going nuts.

Out of curiosity... Google Translate translates 除 习 as meaning "get rid of habits."

Their censors might not like that.

        • Google Translate translates 拜登老了,但特朗普是个混蛋。as meaning "Biden is old, but Trump is an asshole."

          You could probably have
          拜登老了,但特朗普是个混蛋。
embroidered onto a blue ball cap.

          • These things are coming here in ever increasing numbers and wrecking havoc among people. Although harmless (unless provoked) they are super freaky due to their size. The one in the shack, three years ago, had a bit different color, maybe it was too old or different subspecies but the size...

It's an orb weaver, wasp spider to be exact. They are pretty common in northern Europe, but the thing is, according to our biodiversity survey, insect and arachnids are growing a lot with each passing year. Australia however has one of the biggest examples of their species. The one here, in the shack was 2 or maybe 2,5 times smaller than the Australian specimen. But never the less, still freakishly huge organism.

I am guessing that they get so large here is due to food and climate, as winters are getting milder the conditions are getting perfect for them to grow and as evolution dictates, the bigger the better. In a way we are ideal for them, not to cold and not to warm, hence they grow to stupid sizes like that one and of course no natural predators to hunt them down. I am guessing that in 20 years they will reach gold weaver size from Australia if the trend continues.

                      • I lost one of my oldest and closest friends this week, out of the blue and thousands of miles away.
Of course we'd see each other again, soon and often, but ... can't quite make it this year.

Don't leave it for too long, friends.
                        Take the time.
                        Just go.
