So I read the part in bold and go "you are kidding." So I research the background and see that was typical years ago. Today it is apparently a mix though. What I did learn is about Irish kilts (I'm second generation and wasn't aware) were also worn and related to the county your clan was from rather than just to your clan.

Oh, I understood that but since it was related to the Army, which has customs going way back, I thought I'd look it up to see what history and customs said. I was amazed commando would still be practiced today.

Is it still called a Kilt when a female wears it or does it become a skirt?

Depends, if it's a full length kilt worn by female in a formal setting like a band or a Ceilidth then yes, it is a kilt. If it's above the knees and worn about town by a teenager? Then or want of a better description its a fashion statement. Albeit 'fashion' is being generous.

Tens Of Thousands Sign Petition To Stop Jeff Bezos From Returning To Earth

On July 20, Amazon's founder and billionaire magnate Jeff Bezos and his brother Mark will board the New Shepard suborbital rocket system. The Bezos brothers, one auction winner with $28 million to spare, and a fourth person will become the first crew aboard the reusable rocket for its 11-minute voyage to space.

Since Bezos made the announcement about his journey to space earlier this month, tens of thousands of people have come together to petition against his return to the planet.

There are multiple petitions out there, but the frontrunner, "Do not allow Jeff Bezos to return to Earth," had collected more than 33,000 signatures by late Sunday. "Billionaires should not exist," the description read. "On Earth, or in space, but should they decide the latter they should stay there."

Bezos is the founder of the space exploration company Blue Origin, which built New Shepard. The rocket is reusable and has capacity for six passengers in its capsule.

"If you see the Earth from space, it changes you. It changes your relationship with this planet, with humanity. It's one Earth," Bezos said in a video posted to Instagram.

Bezos isn't the only billionaire with his sights set on out-of-this-world endeavors.

Elon Musk is the founder of SpaceX, which has racked up a number of firsts for private spaceflight, including being the first private company to transport astronauts to the International Space Station last year. The company's website advertises trips to space for paying customers. Musk himself has not announced any immediate space travel plans. But a Japanese billionaire, Yusaku Maezawa, booked a trip with SpaceX to travel around the moon in 2023.

Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, also has a space program — Virgin Galactic, which also has a reusable spacecraft intended for commercial space travel. Branson plans to be on one of Virgin Galactic's upcoming flights.

Lab test of Subway’s tuna sandwiches fails to find any tuna DNA

A commercial lab test commissioned by the New York Times looked for five different tuna species and found none

No identifiable tuna DNA was found in any of the samples of Subway’s tuna sandwiches, according to a New York Times analysis.
The publication said it bought "60 inches' worth of Subway tuna sandwiches" from three different Subway locations in Los Angeles, froze the tuna, and sent it to a commercial lab. A test was conducted to see if the tuna came from any of five different tuna species.

A month later, the lab informed the Times that it hadn’t found traces of any of the species in Subway’s tuna.

"No amplifiable tuna DNA was present in the sample and so we obtained no amplification products from the DNA,” the lab said in a note. “Therefore, we cannot identify the species."

Ah, stupid Americans just drive me crazy. If you come into my office, and are new, you are wearing a mask as I know zero about your health background and history. OTOH if I know you well,and your history, you can dispense with the mask but I am in Contra Costa Country.

My wife wants to go to Las Vegas for three days, Aug.8-10, before my son starts back at school, along with another couple. I don't like the indoor Las Vegas scene for one. It will be too hot to be outside hiking. Three, the place will be filled with tons of people, from the Midwest and such, about then and many are not vaccinated all crammed indoors. So I declined to go.

I think is totally fine. With the delta variant on the loose I have started wearing a mask again...even though I was fully vaccinated in April. I have especially resumed considering I live in the lowest vaccinated county in Virginia....under 38%!

I have the opposite story. A friend who runs a few saloons refuses to see customers unless they have had at least one shot. Proof is easy as you get an SMS to your phone after the shot.

Can't risk staff getting sick as she'd have to foot the hospital bill.

Whew! Dodged a bullet.

Got slammed on Friday afternoon with several COVID like symptoms...headache, body aches, lightheaded, fever, chills, dragging, dry cough. Tried to ride it our at home. Woke up Sunday and my sense of taste was all off. So I went and got tested for COVID (yes I am fully vaccinated but Delta variant is spiking in our area).

Got results yesterday...negative. PHEW!

The doctor thinks I got hit with an early version of the 2021-22 seasonal flu. She said I probably had enough antibodies from last season's flu shot there were enough antibodies to mitigate the effects.

I gotta say this season's flu is going to SUCK! Get your flu shot as soon as available.
