We record our telephone calls in and out and they are time stamped. Normal procedure in most offices no doubt. At 13.49 this afternoon our telephone guy got a phone call - some chap claimed to be a "line engineer" and he needed to check our systems - someone was hacking us! "Oh no, shock horror" says the young telephonist "I have to call my Boss". So our day to day guy for computer systems got called and spoke to these wannabe hackers "Yes yes I am line engineer but I need you to download anydesk.com" at which point he did a line number check and hung up. Two hackers now in custody. The idiots of this world never cease to amaze me.
At this point I think I am going to host Thanksgiving for my family and my wife's family. My in-laws really, really suck at Thanksgiving. Practically every single dish tasted like crap.
-Turkey overcooked AND undercooked (Happens when you do not defrost fully, don't brine, and don't actually check temperature)
-Didn't even serve dark meat
-Potatoes were lumpy
-Sweet Potatoes had no brown sugar and no butter
-Raw Root Vegetables
-Jello. Seriously. We don't need jello.
-Gravy wasn't fully mixed
-At least the pie was okay, because that came from Baker's Square.
They put all the NFL Games on mute and most of them were upset they were even on. It's the Bears! Playing the Lions! Football fans want to see it!
And then, of course, my stove ended up having a gas leak, and a winter storm dumped a foot of the heaviest water-logged snow I have ever seen.

Pakistan's GDP ~ USD 283 billion.
Mumbai's GDP ~ USD 310 billion.
Dharavi, biggest slum in Mumbai ~ GDP, between USD 500 million - USD 1 billion.
You want a counter factual to this ?
there are slums in bangalore too. So they got some affordable housing for the slum dwellers. What happened next. Said slum dwellers rented out the property and went back to the slum, now on a fixed income : D
Something about living in a slum makes living in a building unattractive. Is it the open sky. Like riding a bike.
A friend of mine in the gulf told me a similar story. Govt decided the bedouins needed to stop living in tents out in the desert and live in proper homes. So they built them nice houses and told them it was theirs to do as they chose. Bedouins thanked them. A month later the officials drive over to the desert to see how the bedouins were doing. Turns out they used the homes as stables for their cattle and continued to live in tents.
Heale notes that “Japan-bashing” was resonating with a wide swath of the American public in the 1980s—from automakers in Detroit to the electronics manufacturers of Silicon Valley. American manufacturing was on the decline, and politicians could point to Japan as the leading culprit.
Even Democratic standard-bearer Walter Mondale used language about the Japanese that would sound right at home in the lips of Donald Trump today:
We have to stop showing that white flag, to start running up the American flag, and to turn around, fight and make American number one again in international commerce so that American jobs are filled in this country. If we don’t get cracking, get serious, and get leadership... our kids will be cheated by us. Their jobs will consist of sweeping up around Japanese computers and spending a lifetime serving McDonald’s hamburgers.
