Need a free video editor

Ok, it's just about that time again: I'm looking for free software

This time it's a simple video (mpg, avi) editor that will allow me to easily snip out portions of video files (commercials, to be precise).

I've tried a couple of free trial programs, only to find out that they blank out half of your new file as the price for being only a trial program.

So...any free, completely usable programs out there you can recommend?

Tried it, worked well enough until I went to save...it's trying to save at like 3 or 4 times the size I started out with

I've also figured out that I can save the audio only to a nice tiny .wav file, which is exactly what I wanted (Don't ask! )
