To bad you cannot take all your CDs to some "Geeksquad" group and have them transfer all the songs, in working order for a small price.

Scratched CDs don't transfer easily:( And of course they are scratched because those are the ones I kept in the truck to listen to during the day) My favorites
There are some free CD rippers available from download.com. I remember using one that has an option of ripping damaged CDs. I guess it has some algorism that can reduce the annoying noises from ripping damaged CDs.

Those are pretty easy to use and completely free, if ripping is the only thing you want to do. For a fee, the program does other things like converting format or something like that. The name should be "FreeCDRipper" on download.com.

Heres a sample of the badly scratched ones.

They only come out at Night (Edgar Winter Group)

      Pearl (Janis Joplin)

      Terrapin Station (Grateful Dead)

      CSN (Crosby Stills and Nash)

      The Final Cut (Pink Floyd)

Live Rust (Neil Young and Crazy Horse)

The very best of Lou Reed, japanese release

and the anniversary collection of the best of Jethro Tull.

I have taken Gun Nuts advice and used one of the rippers off download. com Not as clear but for these old arty ears good enough:)

Until I can find some replacements

PM me your email. I never know what I might send via email when I'm sleepwalking at night, like maybe telling you to get your filthy hands off my fvcking desert! ;)

Until a couple years ago I thought an MP3 was a gun:))

But anyhoo! I got ol Edgar on vinyl, bought as soon as it came out, still plays on my wifes Technics turntable today. And James Gang-Thirds! Sometimes I just gotta dust it off, pop a top, and give it a listen!:)

Its one of those things if I had to explain they wouldn't understand.;)

Do you know there's also an MP4? Kinda close to MP5, but they don't do the same thing.

                Which one? MP3, MP4, or MP5?

I think there's an MP7 too, from HK.

MP5 is the only one I ever got to play, the kind of tune that just sticks with you!
