The person who wrote the article is talking out of their ass. Particularly this bit:The current Out of Africa theory states that the earliest human species migrated out of east Africa around 200,000 years ago. If there were footprints from hominins over four times that figure in northern Europe, the theory will need to be revised. -

The recent single origin hypotheses, or as she calls it "The current Out of Africa" theory concerns itself with anatomically modern humans. No one is claiming that these footprints belong to modern homo sapiens. Hence the silliness of the articles assertions.
