America will lose Florida and southern part of Louisiana and other parts of coastland. India is expected to lose 1/3 of her landmass. How will you handle such loss of land? It would be catastrophe.

As for a billion years, no one is expecting to live that long but we have every expectations of living for a couple more thousand years until we gain the capability of traveling between stars and planting seeds of human civilization. Now we may not have that chance.

If I were you, I wouldn't be worry about too much CO2. I worry that there won't be enough of it. The planet is dying. CO2 levels have dropped. Grasslands now dominate where once jungles lived because there isn't that much CO2 anymore. Not in our lifetime but in a billion years or so, there would not be enough CO2 to support more than bacteria.[/QUOTE]

Nothing like the threat of death to spur innovataions. The human race is not going to die out because of this climate change. Ice Age? That one we have to worry about.

Good luck on persuading the Russians to allow mass migrations into their heartland. Ditto with Canada.

We are land dwelling creatures, not sea dwelling creatures. We can't breath underwater. We can breath on land and survive longer on land and in cold than underwater.

I don't know any army or weapons system (including nukes) that can stop the migration of 200 million people.

The people coming will be Americans. They'll just buy property.

Again, neither the human race nor human civilization would be lost with this.

But it is very traumatic. This will make the Partition of India a very minor affair in comparison.

Property values will skyrocket and it will be a huge disruption to the economy.

Right but it means hundreds of years of human suffering not before. We just got over this and now we will see it again. I don't want to see it in my lifetime or my children's lifetimes.

It's not going to be traumatic. Worst case scenario is less than half an inch rise in the next century. There won't a 100 foot tidal wave washing Florida out to the sea.

Nothing is there now. So, it's not going to disrupt anything.

You are basing this as if this was naturally occurring. It is not. It is manmade. With each scientific experiment validating the acceleration of the melting with a corresponding rise in CO2 levels and temperature, it is not hard to see that it is not naturally occurring.

As for stopping climate changing and claiming that we want to stop climate change and calling us climate change denier is very much like the logic used by chickenhawks to justify going to war with Iraq over dubious claims of WMDs and claims for more drilling for shale and fracturing even though it means that our groundwater will be poisoned and the cost of a gallon of drinking water cost more than the cost of a gallon of gas.

Go ahead and bury your head in the sand but I will not let my children and future generations suffer from your ostrich like tendencies.
You are part of a doomsday cult which will eventually be proven wrong. But I will give you this, you people learned from past doomsday cults by being vague about the deadline, and keep revising it with new so-called "scientific discoveries."

                You see what you believe.

                I believe what I see.

that's not what the scientists are saying. They are saying a 1-2 meter rise in sea levels. See here: Sea Level Rise -- National Geographic

Yes but when the time comes, it will skyrocket.

So you think Scientific American, National Oceanic Institute, NASA, and other periodic journals and thousands of scientists and engineers are members of a doomsday cult when those members have a strong incentive for analytic peer review fact based research?

Science is about facts, not consensus. A thousands "scientists" with the same incorrect opinion doesn't make it correct.

Note 1: The floods receeded. Didn't stay. Note 2: Exact words - "inexact science."

It will be a boom because there's nothing there. It's not like a bunch of rich Hong Kongers buying up property in Florida driving up prices because of demand. When the time comes, they will have to build roads and new cities/towns.
