  • Istanbul airport attack

36 dead, 147 injured so far.

Apparently, there were at least 3 attackers who first opened fire, entered the airport, reached to the passport control and then detonated the vests.

God bless the victims and give strength to their close ones.

    Amen.

there are different reports about the incident.

consensus is that there are 3 detonations that took place. one at the international arrivals' entrance, one at te intl. departure and one at the car park.

it seems that first attacker opened fire at the very first security gate after being recognised by the police. they hes been shot by te police, fell down and detonated his vest. one other rushed in to terminal and the other went to the parking lot and detonated after a firefight with the police & spec.ops.

i dont know very well the details but one thing that i know is that there are children among the dead & injured...

children... what kind of men can hurt a child... i am speechless and all i can think of is vengeance... but not by the hand of god but men... we should hurt them, annihilate them and etc...

f.ck the politics, f.ck the states, f.ck the religions, f.ck all... those were children!!!!.....

i hate the world... i hate the politics, i hate the ignorants who put those bastards to the top of our govts.. and by that i mean ALL the govts not only ours...

children died last night... what can be more serious that this???...

Such an indiscriminate attack is terrible. The latest is 41 dead and 239 injured.

An attack on a Turkish military base is something I would expect from the PKK, but I can't imagine even they would stoop so low as to blow up a civilian airport. Something I've never understood is how some groups think that blowing up civilians at random would help win anyone to their cause or achieve any political concessions.

God willing, the animals responsible for this will be hunted down and exterminated.

He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

Does this in any way advance PKK objectives ?

If not then this happens when lower downs call the shots. Leadership is out of contact or disabled somehow.

The suspicion is that it was ISIS rather than PKK. Of course, I don't see how killing Turkish civilians advances ISIS objectives either...

No groups have claimed the attack yet as far as I know.

US and German anti-terror specialists assume it's IS; the Turkish government for obvious reasons won't acknowledge anything like that unless they positively identify them (... and change their politics). Supposedly security officials in Turkey have stated the perpetrators "may have been foreigners", which is as good as an inofficial confirmation that they assume it's IS too.

                      Kato,

every source claimed that every evidence shows IS.

with the beating that pkk took and the public support they lost, i think that they can not dare such attack.

bringing war to the cities backfired badly to pkk in every way.

the worst one is the lost public support. the commoners now are saying that "its been 30 years and you can not defeat the state, stop it and let us live & do our businesses"

this is the only good result of that so-called peace period of AKP's peace policy. Diyarbakir tasted a relative wealth (they even built 2 big malls) & peace and liked it. tho AKP&Erdogan should be put on trial for overlooking pkk's stockpiling guns & recruiting period..

On the surface of it this seems to be a blunder by ISIS as this might lead to the further tightening of the Turkish border and choking of their supply lines.

On the other hand I wonder if ISIS is not trying to achieve exactly this to stem the desertion of their own fighters. Either way another step towards oblivion for the Iraqi and Syrian branches of IS.

Perps have supposedly been identified as a Russian, a Kyrgyz and an Uzbek.

ok, the leadership is further away.

Which is why i don't understand why IS would do this. Turkeys role is pretty grey here.

Sounds like a 'foreign hand' reason. Always safe when in doubt.
