There's some conservative-minded people of the fringe kind here who think we should take in refugees, train them, arm them and send them to Syria.

Partially we already do that. The paramilitary THW federal technical assistance corps in currently establishing training programs with the aim to train several thousand Syrian refugees. The idea is to train these for clearance and repair operations in bombed-out cities, and them send them in as a first wave once some sort of peace is reached in Syria. THW operations generally also include demolitions using explosives, with operatives trained at least at platoon level.

Did you hear how the American version of this program turned out?

          • Yeah. I also hear how our version in Northern Iraq is turning out, and that's quite a different story...

A bit of old news, but I think that it should have been seen as an omen before Germany happened. But of course, it didn't.

That's because we have The Obama running the program. Or wait....is it Bush's fault?

                  • And it will get worse , ,Oslo is already a lost cause and spreading south .

The North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) state government has released the full log of offences recorded in the city centre on New Year’s Eve, which lists in detail the forms of crimes committed, and the genders of those attacked.

With crimes ranging from mere pickpocketing to full blown “group rape”, what Germany’s Bild newspaper calls the “list of shame” runs to a staggering 821 complaints. When considering all the major cities of the NRW state including Cologne, Dusseldorf, Dortmund and Bielefeld the number of complaints is closer to 1,000.

                    cologne
Fireworks are set off in central Cologne on New Year’s Eve. The lawless atmosphere and police paralysis set the stage for an evening of sexual violence and assaul.

In the list, sexual offences are recorded 359 times, and 659 women are recorded as having been victims.

In a statement to parliament today, NRW interior minister Ralf Jäger revealed although there were 1,049 victims, the police had only identified 30 suspects. All of the suspects are “North Africans”, 15 are officially asylum seekers — meaning they have not yet had their paperwork for indefinite leave to remain stamped by the German government — and two are under the age of 18.

So far, just two suspects are behind bars, 26 and 22 year old Algerians who were arrested and found to have stolen mobile phones from their victims in their possession. They stand accused of sexual offences — grabbing a woman around the waist and buttocks.

The government minister who released the list, Ralf Jäger has kept his job despite being heavily implicated in the chaos that unfolded as violent migrant gangs savagely attacked German men and women enjoying their night out on New Year’s Eve. As reported by Breitbart London at the time, the chief of police requested extra officers to be deployed to Cologne, but the appeal was turned down by minister Jäger.

Just days later the same police chief who had called for reinforcements was fired by the man who had denied them, claiming the officer had to go to improve public confidence in the force.

The Cologne migrant rapes, and concurrent attacks in other European cities has been one of the most shocking developments in the European migrant crisis this year. Beyond the attacks themselves, the initial cover up first by the Cologne police, and then by the German media which wilfully under-reported events and obscured the migrant origin of the violence has caused anger in Germany and elsewhere. The events have even imperilled the Chancellorship of Angela Merkel, who is seen in Germany as being the prime driving force behind Germany’s open door policy to millions of newcomers.

                    • Uh, maybe the authors of that article have a different interpretation of the word "record". We are talking "accusations", not "records". A record would be if someone went through the video surveillance data and had actually counted up a tally.

"Grabbing a woman around the waist and buttocks" is not a punishable offense under German law; at best - by law - it is treated as an insult with a sexual background, but even that likely won't fly in court. It definitely hasn't in the past. Going straight between her legs is about the level where that would be applicable. In this case will likely be seen as minor coercion of a negligible level which will be subsumed under a robbery case of minor gravity. Likely sentence given the low material worth of goods robbed and low level of threat will likely be in the 6 month to 2 year category, maximum would be 5 years. This example is actually a token one supporting my opinion that in most cases the sexual component of the accusation will be dropped pretty quickly.

As for Merkel being the "prime driving force behind Germany's open door policy"? Seriously? That statement is about as ridiculous as it gets. The only thing Merkel is known for in Germany - politically - is her indecisiveness, wagging about finding the right side to support in order to maximize favourite opinion (and she usually does). Outside that she's mostly known for being Kohl's Mädsche, for always wearing the exact same pantsuit cut in about 200 different colors, and for being raised an East-German. With all that entails.

                        • My state's statistical office has just released a population prognosis that basically predicts that we're screwed. Because they expect that immigration (refugees from both other German states and abroad) will be falling over the next 5 years, and then enter a lull. Beginning with that lull, our population will first become static and 5 years later begin to decline since we won't even get the ca 30,000 people we'll need. For 2015 it assumes a net immigration saldo of only 125,000, average net immigration into the state since 1960 was 115,000.

Let's solve that problem by importing people. That always turns out well.

It's an interesting phenomenon. All the advanced nations don't want to have kids. It's like an institutional suicide.

Remember this thing about socialism I mentioned long ago? The only difference between the Nazis and socialists is PR. Socialists will convince you to walk into the gas chamber at your own free will and believe it's the right thing to do.

                            • The problem isn't not wanting kids here - today. The problem is people who didn't want to have kids in the second half of the 60s. And for most industrialized countries it's the same problem.

What we are currently facing demographically all stems from the "pill bend" of 1965. The "pill bend" was a massive reduction of births by about 40% between 1965 and 1975 (in Germany; somewhat less pronounced in other countries, mostly those with more religious influence); in the four decades (!) since then, births have only dropped by about 5-10% in total, which while still somewhat iffy is not even remotely drastic or a problem.
What the "pill bend" results in is that between 2010 and 2030 a huge amount of people enter retirement, while during these twenty years the workforce producing their pensions is massively reduced. In the 2030s and 2040s this problem will then be gradually reduced. The only way to enlarge the workforce base to feed these retirees without dropping standards for the active workforce is by importing it. Lowering standards for retirees is not an option, as these are the people who decide who runs the government. Simple as that.

                              • At what point do we decide we have enough people on the planet, or even in each country? A stable population is not the harbinger of death some would have you believe.
Removing a single turd from the cesspool doesn't make any difference.
