    • France and Sweden still have sub-replacement birth rates and aren't models to imitate.

Increased socialism or capitalism is really tinkering around the edges and isn't going to change much. Declining birth rates are a broad trend across various cultures and across whole time periods. Hell, even Peru sees huge declines in birth rates over the past couple decades.

You're talking about importing a whole new social system to return birth rates to replacement level. The likely solution will be something not politically palpable for the Western political community, or really most any community. Unfortunately someone will eventually figure out how to marry the high birth rates of religiosity with the innovation of Western enlightenment and I just hope it's the Mormons and not ISIS.

      • GVChamp,

more realistically, the birth rates are going to continue to go down and the world population will eventually level off around the 2050s.

in any case economic growth has been linked to productivity/efficiency increases and not by population. besides, if population growth was really a concern, countries would just have an open border policy, which is popular precisely nowhere.

        • I am pretty sure I cannot predict the future, but I am pretty sure predictions of "the world will look exactly the same as today" is probably incorrect in some rather important aspects.

Simply importing people to replace your current population isn't a viable strategy because people aren't inter-changeable widgets. Handled poorly and your nation is finished. The world has far more examples of Rome than it does of the United States.

actually, it'll be significantly older, with more relative population in Africa. so not at all the same as today. the best population predictions made by the UN in the 1950s-1960s have been quite accurate.

not that Rome collapsed because of a poor immigration policy, lol. having said that, yes, a country has to ensure that immigration levels don't go beyond its integrative capacities or else there will be balkanization. but the point is that most countries find population concerns to not be a very pressing, with even pro-natalist policies more of a sop than anything else.

the US is a special case in terms of demographics not because it is more capitalist/socialist or what not, but just because immigration levels and ability to integrate is quite high-- same with countries like canada and australia to a slightly lesser extent.

            • And now the truth starts to emerge ,opportunity knocks .,YOU WERE WARNED .

MUSLIM MIGRANTS INCREASE CRIME IN GERMANY BY 65%
There was also a fight between 300 to 400 Algerians and Syrians
              October 8, 2015 Daniel Greenfield

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the huge number of Muslim migrants flooding Europe and Germany represent an "opportunity". Here's what that opportunity looks like now.

A mass brawl occurred between refugees from Afghanistan and Albania. Some 60 refugees went after one another in the camp in the Wilhelmsburg district on Tuesday evening. Some were armed with iron bars, also witnesses had testified that a refugee had a firearm, a police spokesman said.

In Lower Saxony in Braunschweig there was also an altercation between 300 to 400 refugees between Algerians and Syrians from a dispute over stolen goods.

In the brawl in Hamburg five refugees were injured, one got a wound in his arm and had to be hospitalized. Whether they were stabbed, was initially unclear. The police had deployed a large contingent on site to separate the warring Afghans and Albanians, said the spokesman. 30 police cars were in use.

After police managed to stop the fight, a tent was set on fire. Two people were poisoned by smoke. It was unclear whether there was a link between the arson and the fight. According to the police spokesman, the odor of drugs was detected.

According to statistics from the Federal Criminal Police vedomstva Germany the number of offenses committed by asylum seekers has increased dramatically. Given the large number of immigrants, it is not surprising. In 2013 it was registered 32 495 crimes, and in 2014 - already 53 890. A particularly sharp increase in thefts (from 9421 to 16066) attacks with bodily injury (from 5172 to 8994)

Here's what the opportunity looks like. It's an opportunity for No Go Zones. For suicide bombings. For organized crime, constant riots and entire neighborhoods and then cities ruled by Muslim gangs that swiftly evolve into militias just like they do in the Middle East.

              The Muslims Are Not Happy!
              They're not happy in Gaza.
              They're not happy in Egypt.
              They're not happy in Libya.
              They're not happy in Morocco.
              They're not happy in Iran.
              They're not happy in Iraq.
              They're not happy in Yemen.
              They're not happy in Afghanistan.
              They're not happy in Pakistan.
              They're not happy in Syria.
              They're not happy in Lebanon.

              So, where are they happy?

              They're happy in Australia.
              They're happy in England.
              They're happy in France.
              They're happy in Italy.
              They're happy in Germany.
              They're happy in Sweden.
              They're happy in the USA.
              They're happy in Norway.
They're happy in every country that is not Muslim.

              And who do they blame?
              Not Islam.
              Not their leadership.
              Not themselves.

THEY BLAME THE COUNTRIES THEY ARE HAPPY IN!
AND THEY WANT TO CHANGE THEM TO BE LIKE THE COUNTRY THEY CAME FROM WHERE THEY WERE UNHAPPY.

Excuse me, but how dumb can you get?

Actually, it wasn't crimes, it was people implicated in crimes. There's a difference.

In addition, crimes committed by asylum seekers include crimes concerning their immigration and legal status in the country. For Syrians in 2013 that accounted for 72% of crimes committed, for Afghans it was 56%. For Serbians 24% btw.

That will be a whole lot higher in 2015. Every Syrian coming over the German-Austrian border is automatically implicated for the crime of illegally crossing the border. Charges are dropped once the asylum request is filed (since that is a legal reason to cross over), but in the statistics they'll of course all be marked down.

                    • I life in Germany, to be exact in Bavaria. And there is nearly no other theme in our media. The problem are not the refugees by themselves, but the too big number of them. Especially here in Bavaria overwhelmed with the enourmos number. There are many volunteers who help the refugees. But now the winter is coming and we have not enough suitable accommodations for them. The lack of support by the other European States is not the only problem. The problems with the distribution of the refugees starts in our own borders. The other federal states of Germany even are no help. I´m no nazi, but the number of the people is to big for us. I support the demand of our state prime minister Horst Seehofer for limits, but not the launch of transit zones. The European Union shouldn´t break apart because of the refugee crisis. But all the other countries (even the eastern states) should show their European mind. Otherwise they shouldn´t get any more money from us.
The current policy of Angela Merkel doesn´t make sense. She can´t say "we mange it" without any plan how to deal with the people coming to us. She let us (the Bavarian state and the communities) without financial assistance and all the people alone. The other federal states now just say "we are at stop". Wonderful! We have them here!
Merkel also have no plan how it should go further with the people who are already here. We have in our cities (especially in Munich) living space problems. Now lodger of the communes get set on the street because the commune needs the space for the refugees. A another problem is the integration. Even the German job market is not strong enough to give these million of people a perspective.

Finally I can say that we need a European plan, if not a worldwide plan. Merkel have lost much backing in the German community because of her bad crisis management. I only can support our state prime minister Seehofer. But I first have to see which acts follow on the big words of him.

It will hallen Thatcher Germany says no more. We have now a discussion of these transit zones, but that would destroy the European Union.
The EU mixes up in every stupid thing. Now they should do something. I know that the refugees only want in the rich countries, but why should we do that? They get protection here and everything they need to live. Wouldn't it be a good plan to register them at the external borders with Frontex and then distribute them fair on the countries. The bigger and richer a country the more they get. Why should Germany take they all ans England none of them? I think that this would be a fair deal.

Bavaria isn't exactly using the resources it has - rerouting refugees around Munich, where emergency housing and helpers capable of literally handling tens of thousands are currently sitting idle.

Of course showing that Bavaria could handle more wouldn't help Seehofer in his stance against Merkel...

Meh, it would been even easier to pour bilkions in Turkey and Lebanon and keep them there, but they will still go to Germany and Sweden. And I mean by thousands daily.

Most countries have economical issues and scared citizen who don't want to mingle. The southern or eastern you get, the more vocal this is.
