Been a tough few days with the fire in Jasper. I lived there for a few years recently and still do frequent work in the park. A lot of good people lost their homes and businesses. It's a real gut punch to the community because a lot were just turning things back around after Covid wiped out the tourism industry. Climate change advocates are out in force but everyone in town knew it was only a matter of time because of the mountain pine beetle that wiped out the surrounding forest and mountainsides years ago. It was dead pine as far as the eye could see. The area is also important to the Indigenous, and I was just there in the spring doing offerings, prayers prints and assessing the traditional forage grounds near the original Jasper House. Been quite emotional the last few days.

The NDP-Liberal Alliance is over. The question now is when is the election?

Should be this fall. Tough to argue Trudeau even has a mandate to lead right now considering the minority state of the party and his dismal polling numbers.

Both the NDP and the Liberals would take their damned time trying to get their numbers up. Both would get slaughtered at the polls if the election is in the fall.

They're going to get slaughtered regardless when it is.

The NDP pulling out tells me they want to put distance between themselves and the Liberals because they know that ship has been sunk and is sitting on the bottom of the sea. Meanwhile the NDP is getting pummelled at the polls too.

Libs losing to the Bloc last night in LaSalle is a devastating loss for Trudeau.

Six Indian diplomats have been expelled from Canada for alleged involvement in criminal activities in Canada. The RCMP cited credible evidence of links to the murder of a Canadian citizen.

News outlets here say the murder has links to Indian organized crime i.e. they allege that the Indian Government 'outsourced' the killing to a major organized crime figure in custody back home and serving time in a maximum security jail and 'convinced' him to use his network off contacts to have the victim killed by other Indian members of the Canadian underworld.

So it looks like the Indian government has started outsourcing work to Canada! That's a first. Maybe it's the beginning of a trend even.

If you are emotionally invested in 'believing' something is true you have lost the ability to tell if it is true.

                    • It's one stupid OPSEC decision. You trust a criminal to keep his silence. Criminal, by definition, being untrustworthy.

Allegedly. The source for Indian govt. involvement in any of this is still Justinder saying "Trust me bro". And it is mighty convenient how these diplomatic incidents with India tend to flare up when Trudeau is facing political heat domestically.

                          These are RCMP allegations

But anything that stops Trudeau from dancing the bhangra is a plus in my book. In fact, there will be no more public funded vacations to India is a plus in my book.

The RCMP is an agency of the Canadian Government. As an Indian I cannot make a distinction between them and Trudeau's regime. Looking at Trudeau's extreme fondness for Khalistani separatists and hostility towards India combined with the sordid history of the AI 182 investigation it would be foolish for me to have any faith in the RCMP's (or any other Canadian agency's) independence or integrity when it comes to this issue in particular.

                            • I realize that you as a Canadian will have a different view of the RCMP and we'll just have to agree to disagree.

                              • AI 182 stupidity spans several governments. There's no excuse for that FUBAH affairs. Justin Trudeau, however, was not around. His father was. AI 182 is a RCMP fuck up independent of any government.

That being said, I see the RCMP as another open source intel. The allegations is backed up by US SIGS intel passed to the RCMP as part of the 5 Eyes. US Indictments of Indian Nationals would give you a hint of what that intel entailed. But that being said, the new RCMP intel is based upon discussion with Canadian criminals. Those discussions are automatically suspect (oh gee criminals involved in murder won't lie?) but allegations could not legally be ignored. Defence attorneys would have a field day screaming India, India, India.
