  • Corruption - Country Comparison

This is taken from the Transparency International's latest 2008 Country Perception Index.

I retype the list, starting from the worse to the best. And I've skipped countries that are not often in the news.

Somalia, Myanmar, Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Venezuela, Syrua, Russia, Kenya, Yemen, Philippines, Iran, Ukraine, Pakistan, Libya, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nigeria, Egypt, Argentina, Lebanon, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, ......... USA, Japan, Belgium, United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Germany, Hong Kong, Austria, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Iceland, Switzerland, Finland, Singapore, Sweden, New Zealand, Denmark.

In the top group, only Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore are non-white.

    *Have to disagree Merlin.

*ALL countries have a level of corruptness no matter who they are,. It doesn't matter the color of the skin, they have all had their scandals related to politics time and again. Why? Because politics is not law but how a ruling party interpits that law and then chooses when to enforce that law, depending on who breaks that law.

*IMO, The only uncorrupt places are going to be your far reached islands and island chains. No politics, no land grabbing, no currency, no laws, just rules of the tribes and simple justice.
Fortitude.....The strength to persist...The courage to endure.

Yes yes, thank you one and all, this confirming that New Zealanders are in fact the cheapest of all to bribe. A contract that in another country might cost you millions in bribes you can get in NZ for nothing more than a weekend away in a moderate hotel and a couple of hookers:)
In the realm of spirit, seek clarity; in the material world, seek utility.

The Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC), the main anti-corruption body of HK is well funded and staffed…and they are clearly doing their job.

In Denmark, they provide the hookers.
