The FBI suspects suicide. If you want to discuss this further, do it on the appropriate thread please.

Suicide version does not rule out that of an attack against AT&T.. Most of the Trump's supporters believe in God and if Nashville Christmas blast does not prove to be intentionally made against his foes, these people would probably see God's hand in such coincidence

In the absence of anything like a suicide note proclaiming that he decided to take down AT&T at the same time he killed himself, that's just more of the usual conspiracy theory nonsense.

Also, you can't prove a negative like that.

        • Georgia Is a Quiet Place for Republicans
They don’t dare speak the truth because they’re afraid of their voters.

David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler didn’t plan on orienting their Georgia run-off campaigns around a lame-duck president’s crackpot election conspiracies and cuckoo coup attempts. Yet, here they are, both desperately trying to signal to Republican voters that they’ll fight for Trump all the way to the bitter end. Even with their well-funded and heavily-staffed campaign arsenals, these two incumbent senators believe that this is the only way they can keep their seats.

It’s the perfect distillation of the dead-end conundrum of Trumpism:

Republicans know that they can’t win without the kooks.

Republicans also know that they definitely might lose with them.

And this dissonance has left the GOP too paralyzed to think of any other way forward.

On today’s Bulwark podcast, A.B. Stoddard joins Charlie Sykes to discuss why President Trump’s obstruction of justice wi...
Think about this: Trump just lost Georgia. But, if the incumbent senators running for re-election in Georgia acknowledge that reality, it would constitute instant grounds for rejection from their base.

Accordingly, the Peach State has become the quiet place for GOP realists: Utter one negative word—or even a positive word that laments his loss—and suddenly dark forces will appear out of thin air to hunt you down.

“Someone’s going to get hurt, someone’s going to get shot, someone’s going to get killed,” Georgia election official Gabriel Sterling warned during a press conference where he specified the threats being posed to fellow Georgians who supported the electoral system. Lest anyone thinks this is a one-off occurrence, look to Pennsylvania, where elected Republicans were pressured to sign a letter supporting Trump’s baseless election claims. “If I would say to you, ‘I don’t want to do it,'” Kim Ward, the GOP leader of the Pennsylvania Senate, said, “I’d get my house bombed tonight.” Not to mention the numerous other occurrences of election officials being staked out and threatened in their homes and offices.

It’s like a horror movie. But in real life.

To hear Republican campaign experts tell it, Loeffler and Perdue had no choice but to support Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s absurd lawsuit to cancel votes in their own state. And they simply had to ask Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to resign; nevermind there wasn’t any evidence of wrongdoing. GOP voters in Georgia wanted shows of fealty to Trump and standing with Republican Governor Brian Kemp to say something like We love Donald Trump; it’s a damn shame he lost; and we hope he runs in 2024 would have been taken as heresy by their supporters.

Whether you agree or not with this analysis, it’s how Loeffler and Perdue see the environment. And once political actors believe that their political future depends on supporting the overthrow of a free and fair election, it’s hard to see how they climb back down. Because now they’ve laid down a marker with their supporters and legitimized the idea that the official party line should be pro-authoritarianism.

Still, Trump’s base wants more from Perdue and Loeffler. They want more than co-signed letters expressing support for overthrowing an election. They expect them to actually do something about it.

When Trump went to Valdosta on December 5 to hold a rally (ostensibly to support Perdue and Loeffler), the crowd came with pre-made “Stop the Steal” signs. Trump spoke for nearly two hours, airing his various unfounded grievances. The senators talked for only about two minutes. At their own rally.

Loeffler tossed out a line about how the Dear Leader had stood up to “cancel culture, China, Big Tech, the fake news,” but the crowd could sense that she was trying to gild the election question. She handed the microphone to Perdue like a hot potato. Purdue barely managed to say “God bless you, we love you, Mr. President,” before the crowd drowned him out with screaming chants demanding that the two senators “Fight for Trump! Fight for Trump!”

Nobody wanted to hear thoughts from sitting U.S. senators about the coronavirus, jobs, economic stimulus, or even how the GOP Senate could serve as a check on the Biden-Harris administration. Trump’s crowd only wanted to know only one thing: Would these two elected officials help overturn the results of the election.

And if not, then GTFO. Sedition or bust, baby.

The leaders of this mob are trying to hold Perdue and Loeffler hostage. Politically speaking, of course. Let’s not confuse Georgia Republican voters with their comrades in Michigan, who targeted their governor with an actual kidnapping plot.

Lin Wood, Atlanta’s MAGA celebrity lawyer, is urging Georgia Republicans to boycott the run-off races. He’s demanding voters sit out in retaliation for the supposed “fraud committed by anti-Trump RINOs Brian Kemp, Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue against President Trump” and others. And a fair number of people are concerned about the “Lin Wood effect” and how his calls could depress GOP voter turnout. Wood’s attempts to undo Biden’s election could undo Perdue and Loeffler, too.

But Trump and Wood are playing to the same roaring crowd.

Which belies the real underlying problem.

David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are inconsequential figures when it comes to the Republican party’s future. If they win, then the GOP will retain control of the Senate. If they lose, the Democrats will have an extremely narrow majority where nothing to the left of Joe Manchin has even a chance of passing.

Either way, the future of Georgia Republicans, the Republican Senate, and the GOP itself is in the hands of fanatical conspiracists.

At this point, Loeffler, Perdue, and Republican party elites are just lagging indicators. They realize this truth.

But they don’t dare say it out loud. Because the only way to be safe, is to stay quiet.

A crowd of around 50 maskless people stormed into a grocery store in California, flouting safety guidelines, in what they said was a protest against mask restrictions getting “out of hand”.

Los Angeles police were called to the grocery store in Erewhon Market in the Fairfax district after the crowd began aggressively questioning the store’s employees and customers, according to a report by KTLA TV.

The police said the crowd was protesting safety guidelines by either taking off their masks inside the store or entering without a face covering.

The protesters were heard chanting slogans like “Open up LA!” One person yelled: “They want you to wear a mask, they want you to lock down!”

A bystander, Ira Brian Miller, posted the video of the crowd chanting and aggressively pushing people in order to enter the store. Speaking to the LA Times, Mr Miller, a resident of West Hollywood, said the crowd was “pushing their way in.”

“They were trying to push the workers out of the way for them to enter the store,” said Mr Miller. He also said he heard protesters asking people to take off their mask.

A woman who was part of the protest wearing a red "MAGA" hat told the Daily Beast: "The masks do nothing! That's why you can wear anything! I don't wear underwear over my face! I'll pull off my underwear right now and put them over my face."

KTLA News quoted another protester saying they showed up because they feel coronavirus restrictions have gotten out of hand.

“We’re not here coughing everything, smearing everything,” said Jason Traver, one of the organisers of the protest. “We just want to shop, we want to take our own precautions that we’ve been doing all of our lives, and we’ll be fine.”

Mr Traver also said he feels the vaccine will be “a whole can of worms” and he’d “rather people just step up and fight.”

The police said the situation was eventually brought under control and the protesters left the store. They said no arrests were made in the incident.

Los Angeles County has seen over 746,000 cases of coronavirus so far with over 9,000 deaths. A record 7,181 people were hospitalised with Covid-19 in LA on Tuesday.

            • QAnon Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene Refuses to Wear Mask at Congressional Swearing-In

Georgia’s new QAnon-supporting Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene caused a ruckus on Sunday at the swearing-in of the new Congress when she refused to wear a mask despite requests from House floor staff, according to Politico’s Jake Sherman. “2 new Republicans — including .@mtgreenee—are being told by House floor staff that they have to put their masks on. as of now, they seem to be telling the floor staff that they will not put it on. Taylor Greene is leaving the floor with the other R, who were trying to ID,” Sherman tweeted. He noted that Trump ally Louie Gohmert (R-TX)—who has pushed to overturn the presidential election result—was also standing maskless on the House floor. After Greene’s refusal to mask up, Republican and Democratic floor staff got into “a screaming match on the floor. So this Congress is going great already,” Sherman tweeted.

The ceremony takes place amid a drastic uptick in COVID-19 cases across the country. Several House members have been in quarantine due to COVID exposure and were participating in the swearing-in and the vote for Speaker from “secure” plexiglass enclosures, according to Capitol Hill doctor Brian Monahan.

Republican Candidate Who Openly Backed QAnon Wins a Seat in the House

Greene later lashed out on Twitter, directing her ire at Democratic Congresswoman Gwen Moore, who announced on Dec. 28 that she’d tested positive for COVID. Moore told a reporter on Sunday that she had quarantined for 2 weeks (raising questions about the date of her diagnosis) and that her doctor advised her it was safe to attend the swearing-in. Nevertheless, Moore was not using a plexiglass enclosure to vote, reportedly angering Republicans. Greene complained, “@SpeakerPelosi changed the COVID rules because she is desperate to cling to the gavel. No one can attack me about masks, when Pelosi is sending Democrats to the floor with positive COVID tests to vote for her for Speaker.”

Meanwhile, one new member of Congress never made it to the ceremony: Luke Letlow, a 41-year-old Republican, died from the virus just before the new year.

              • GOP Rep: If Dems Win Senate, We’ll Be in ‘Full-Scale Hot Conflict’

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) ominously warned during a Fox News appearance on Monday night that the United States is in a “cold civil war” that will shift to a “full-scale hot conflict” if the Democrats sweep Tuesday’s Georgia runoff races and take control of the Senate.

Prior to the Texas lawmaker’s appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight, Fox News host Tucker Carlson struck fear into his viewers about the ramifications of the Senate election, insisting that the country would permanently be under Democratic control if Republicans lost on Tuesday.

“Today, Nancy Pelosi, the sitting speaker of the House, came out in favor of D.C. statehood. Yes, that’s plainly unconstitutional,” he huffed. “The point is two more Democrats in the U.S. Senate. And probably not just two. You add Puerto Rico and that’s four new senators. A permanent new majority. You have a one-party state and the game is over. That’s coming. It’s coming at high speed.”

Moments later, Carlson brought on Roy, who wholeheartedly agreed with the far-right host’s assessment, adding that the “American people are angry.”

The conservative congressman, who recently received plaudits from liberals and Democrats for rejecting his fellow congressional Republicans’ plan to object to President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory, then turned it up several notches.

“Here’s the thing, what happens tomorrow in Georgia, if we have a Democratically controlled Senate, we are now basically at full-scale hot conflict in this country, whereas right now we’re at a cold civil war,” Roy told Carlson.

“We have a major problem where the American people, the regular people out there that are working every day, hard-working Americans, they are getting trampled by a system that is rigged against them,” Roy continued.

The congressman then circled back to Carlson’s assertion that a Democratic victory would also mean the end of two-party rule in the country.

“If the American people in Georgia don’t show up and ensure that we hold the Senate in Republican hands, that’s what is happening,” he exclaimed. “Two additional votes coming out of the Senate in Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, and they lock it down for good. So I could not agree with you more. People need to show up tomorrow to hold the line.”

                • Pro-Trump rally speaker encourages attendees to hug and create ‘mass spreader event’

Supporters of President Donald Trump have gathered in Washington DC for multiple rallies just one day before Congress is expected to officially certify the presidential election results.

One speaker for a Tuesday rally, which was held in Freedom Plaza, encouraged attendees to all hug each other – a suggestion that went against current coronavirus guidelines.

“Turn to the person next to you and give them a hug, someone you don’t know. Go hug somebody. Go ahead and spread it out, mass spreader,” he said, before chanting “mass-spreader event” multiple times to the crowd.

Attendees, many of whom were not wearing masks, were seen hugging each other while the speaker continued to chant “mass-spreader event”.

The coronavirus pandemic has steadily gotten worse in recent weeks across the United States, and experts warned it the surge could be heightened following holiday travel and gatherings.

Washington DC has recorded an average of 233 new coronavirus cases per day and hospitalisations were up by 12 per cent in the last week, The Washington Post reports. It is required for people to wear a mask when out in public in Washington DC, but police were not seen enforcing the mandate with rally attendees on Tuesday.

Multiple pro-Trump events were scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. The president has claimed the election was stolen from him despite only getting 232 Electoral College votes to Joe Biden’s 306. For multiple weeks the president has promoted these events and even said he might attend one.

The National Guard has been called in to respond to the protests in case the situation turns violent, and Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser implored residents to avoid Freedom Plaza, the Capitol, the Supreme Court – locations where rallies were being held.

“Make no mistake: many of these individuals have stated that they are coming to the District to provoke residents and wreak havoc," DC Attorney General Karl Racine said.

Road closures started in Washington DC on Tuesday in anticipation of the different rallies and would go through Wednesday.

Supporters would be gathering on Wednesday during the same time Congress was expected to meet to certify the Electoral College votes and declare Mr Biden the next president.

Mr Trump has claimed Vice President Mike Pence and members of Congress could challenge the Electoral College votes of individual states, but this claim was incorrect. The certification process scheduled for Wednesday is largely ceremonial.

Neither Congress nor the vice president has the power to override the Electoral College and select their own presidential pick, although Republican attempts to raise a recognised objection could extend the process while debates are heard in both chambers.

But this hasn’t stopped the president from pushing members of his party to “stop the steal”, citing baseless claims of massive voter fraud.

                    • Chicago-area man charged with threatening violence at Biden inauguration
Louis Capriotti has recorded “disturbing, anonymous” voicemails for members of Congress multiple times since October 2019, according to a DOJ complaint.

A Chicago-area man was arrested on Tuesday after threatening to kill Democrats at President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, the Department of Justice announced.

Louis Capriotti, 45, is accused of leaving a voicemail for a House member from New Jersey on Dec. 29, saying that if people “think that Joe Biden is going to put his hand on the Bible and walk into that f----ng White House on Jan. 20, they’re sadly f----ng mistaken,” according to a criminal complaint.

“[W]e will surround the motherf----ng White House and we will kill any motherf----ng Democrat that steps on the motherf----ng lawn,” Capriotti allegedly said, according to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court.
If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison on charges of transmitting a threat in interstate commerce, according to a Justice Department news release.

Capriotti, of Chicago Heights, Ill., a suburb south of Chicago, has recorded “disturbing, anonymous” voicemails for members of Congress multiple times since October 2019, according to the complaint. In the Dec. 29 voicemail, he also threatened violence against a former New Jersey governor, according to the complaint.

“[His] messages, in almost every instance, included profanity, along with derogatory remarks concerning the race, religion, political affiliation, or physical appearance of certain Members and others,” the complaint said.

The arrest on Tuesday came after Trump-supporting rioters stormed the Capitol last week, delaying the certification of Biden’s Electoral College victory.

For months President Donald Trump has called for the election results to be overturned, citing baseless accusations of election fraud. He spoke at a rally on Wednesday before the rioters charged into the Capitol, saying that “you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.”

On Tuesday, he didn’t back away from his comments,
                      calling his speech “totally appropriate.”

                        • Feds: Man who arrived in DC with 2,500 rounds of ammunition texted threats against mayor, Pelosi

A heavily armed man arrested one day after last week's deadly Capitol riot had sent text messages threatening to kill the mayor of Washington as well as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, according to a government memorandum.

Cleveland Grover Meredith was armed with an assault-style rifle, a Glock firearm with high-capacity magazines and more than 2,500 rounds of ammunition, according to papers filed Wednesday in federal court asking that Meredith be held without bond.

Authorities say Meredith texted several people about plans for violence in the days before he arrived in Washington late on Jan. 6 from Colorado. Earlier that day, rioting supporters of President Donald Trump, angered that Congress was preparing to certify the election results for President-elect Joe Biden, stormed through the U.S. Capitol. At least five people, including a Capitol Police officer, died as a result of the violence.

Meredith, in one of the texts, states that "we're gonna surround DC and slowly constrict.” Apparently believing that law enforcement was monitoring his communications, he later sent a text stating, “I’m harmless . . . I won’t fire until ordered SIR!”

After receiving texts describing the riot, Meredith responded "Ready to remove several craniums from shoulders.” Shortly afterward, the defendant sent a text that stated, “I’m so ready to (expletive) SOME TRAITORS UP.”

On Jan. 7, Meredith sent a text that said, “I may wander over to the Mayor’s office and put a 5.56 in her skull, (expletive).” He also wrote, “I hope you’re reading this Mr. FBI agent."

Later: “Thinking about heading over to Pelosi (expletive) speech and putting a bullet in her noggin on Live TV.”

He then sent a text stating, “I predict that within the next 12 days, many in our country will die.”

Meredith also committed an assault on Thursday, the papers said, head-butting a victim, knocking him to the ground and assaulting him further.

Meredith faces charges of interstate communication of threat and weapons offenses.

"A clearly disturbed, deranged, and dangerous individual that fantasizes about committing horrific acts of violence and takes countless steps to carry them out by driving across several states with a trailer stocked with thousands of rounds of ammunition and multiple firearms – including an assault style rifle – should not remain in the community," the federal filing says.

                          • Secret Service Warns the Boogaloos Are Coming to D.C., States

The Secret Service has issued an intelligence bulletin warning of additional armed protests in Washington before and after the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden—particularly from the Boogaloo Boys—that in some cases it expects to become violent.

The Secret Service bulletin, dated Jan. 11, is unclassified but marked not for distribution outside law-enforcement channels, and was obtained by The Daily Beast. The Daily Beast is declining to give specifics for these rallies to prevent insurrectionists from organizing through the media.

Although the primary responsibility of the Secret Service is to protect the president, the intelligence bulletin warns of demonstrations slated for state capitols as well. That bolsters a recent warning from the FBI about armed protests across all 50 states. A previous report by Yahoo News said a Dec. 24 document from the FBI’s Minnesota field office also warned state and local authorities of threats from right-wing extremist groups at protests in Washington and other state capitols planned for later this month.

One demonstration cited in the document is scheduled to take place before the inaugural by the Boogaloos, a loose collective meme-turned-movement of enthusiasts for a second civil war, several adherents of which have been arrested and charged for violence during summer and fall 2020 counterprotests against Black Lives Matter. “Although no civil disobedience has been confirmed,” the bulletin states, “organizers have encouraged attendees to bring weapons to the event.”

Another demonstration scheduled for before the inaugural aims to bring “armed citizens” out for a show of force across both state capitals and Washington, D.C., though the sponsor group, Tree of Liberty, which is affiliated with the Boogaloo, alleges to be peaceful.

Although the incitement social-media network Parler has been deplatformed by Apple and Amazon, the Secret Service tracked a user calling for a “Come and Take It” rally, a reference to the Spartan-Persian battle of Thermopylae, that “mentions fighting and posted, ‘never never never stop fighting.” It aims to bring supporters to the Capitol and the White House to “literally PHYSICALLY STOP THE STEAL.”

Backlash from the larger social-media and web hosting companies to the Jan. 6 insurrection has had a disruptive effect on planning for right-wing demonstrations, the bulletin found. But that also has the effect of limiting the Secret Service’s “ability to review information for… situational awareness on these events,” it concedes. Users frustrated by the shutdown of Parler and the de-platforming of many Twitter users are moving to the secure messaging apps Telegraph and Signal, the Secret Service bulletin states.

While many of the demonstrations tracked by the Secret Service are cited in the bulletin as typical political protest, from both left-wing and right-wing groups, some of the inauguration protests are expected to be violent.

One planned demonstration, called a Million Militia March displays a logo bearing crossed AR-15s, an ersatz military patch and both American and Gadsden flags, and purports to be the “1st Regiment of the Restored American Republic.” The bulletin says organizers “have encouraged attendees to bring weapons to the event through the use of images of weapons on promotional materials for the event. The group claims they will not attack, but will defend.” The District of Columbia does not honor any other state’s gun license or permit.

Yet the Secret Service suggests that the event “appears to be a rough concept” of an organizer prone to posting statements like “I am the smartest human.” But the prevalence of such posts, it continues, might nevertheless give the event a momentum of its own. The organizer “encouraged attendees to wear attire depicting guns and MAGA paraphernalia,” and the iconography of the event includes a picture of an AR-15-style long gun with the caption “To All Democrats: Enjoy Hell.”

During a press briefing on Tuesday, the acting U.S. attorney spearheading the prosecutorial response to the insurrection stated that a grand jury is empaneled to look at additional charges for the Jan. 6 rioters, including sedition and conspiracy – a suggestion that charges may extend beyond those who participated in the riot to ensnare the Republican politicians who incited it. A senior FBI official, Assistant Director Steven D’Antuono of the Washington Field Office, stated that the bureau was continuing to receive information to disrupt “possibly future violent activity.”

As of Wednesday, President Trump has been briefed by some officials on possible security threats to the Biden inauguration, a White House official told The Daily Beast. Two other sources with direct knowledge of the matter say that in private conversations over the past week, Trump has continued entertaining wildly incorrect conspiracy theories that antifascists had infiltrated the MAGA mob during the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol and had caused trouble. Trump has also asked advisers and confidants to look into such rumors.

The president has raised the antifa and false-flag theories in discussions about potential threats during Inauguration Day, as well, the sources said.

White House spokespeople did not immediately provide comment for this story on Wednesday.

House members were set to be briefed by the Secret Service on Wednesday afternoon about inauguration security measures, according to a congressional source. Senators received a similar briefing on Tuesday.

On Monday, House Democrats got an initial look at the current environment of violent, right-wing threats during a sobering phone briefing from law enforcement. In that call, first reported by HuffPost and later confirmed by The Daily Beast, authorities outlined four different threats from extremists, from a plan to avenge the death of Ashli Babbitt, the MAGA rioter killed by police on Jan. 6, to general danger to lawmakers and law enforcement officials.

As National Guardsmen patrolled the halls of the Capitol building on Wednesday, lawmakers confessed to being uneasy—or at least uncertain—about how they might be kept safe next week.

“I feel safe today,” Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), the third-ranking House Democrat, said to Capitol reporters on Wednesday. “I have no idea how I’m going to feel on the 20th.”
