The point is that you cannot get people who looked alike to get along (Whites), you're going to have a much harder time with people who looks different and act different from each other. Sure they can act nice when everything is fine but when crap hits the fan, they will line up against the other regardless what the whites will do.
Ok, so we can expect Kumbaya till the shit hits the fan. I guess it then remains to see how bad the shit is.

They've done that with the officer concerned and fired his partners.

This does not mean it won't happen again in another town. And i have no idea how you prevent that.

So there is resistance to reform or only appetite for some reform.

      • So Bunker Boy goes to Dallas TX for a round table discussion on race relations at gateway church. But the Mayor, Police Chief , Sheriff and District Attorney won't be there. The Mayor had prior commitments. The other 3 were not invited. They are all black.

He is also going to hold a fund rasing dinner

His advisors are begging him to do something positive with race relations. But, this is Trump, so it'll be the usual flaming bag of dog shit.
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."- Isaac Asimov

              • Wonder if the people in attendance will have to sign a waiver like the ones going to the rally in Tulsa?

"It's not our fault if you ignore the CDC guidance and come to the Presidents rally"

                https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/11/polit...rus/index.html

(CNN)Attendees of President Donald Trump's upcoming rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, must agree not to sue the campaign if they contract coronavirus.

Rallygoers are asked to RSVP to gain admission to the event and by registering, they must agree to a disclaimer that states they acknowledge the "inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present."
"By attending the Rally, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; BOK Center; ASM Global; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury," the disclaimer reads.

Trump's campaign officially announced plans on Wednesday for the President's first campaign rally since most of the country shut down to prevent the spread of the virus. He will appear at an indoor venue, the BOK Center, in Tulsa on July 19.
The rally announcement comes as coronavirus cases are on the rise in some parts of the US. Cases are still increasing in several states, even as others show a downward trend or are holding steady. Nationally, more than 2 million people have been infected by the virus and more than 112,000 have died, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

Catherine Sharkey, a law professor at New York University School of Law, said waivers like the Trump campaign's are likely to become a regular part of American life as the country reopens and the coronavirus remains a threat. However, the waivers offer only a base-level protection against liability.

"They only give limited protections, so they never would protect against, for example, gross negligence or recklessness," said Sharkey. "One could argue that holding a large public gathering that will draw people together in a context in which they're not able to do social distancing or follow the directive of the CDC, et cetera. One could argue that is grossly negligent."

The President has been anxious to get back out on the trail since in-person campaigning stopped. His campaign had originally drawn up plans to restart rallies in July, but it pushed up the timeline as more states started reopening their economies and as big crowds have taken part in demonstrations across the country in the wake of George Floyd's death late last month in the custody of Minneapolis police.

The campaign believes the crowds at those protests have opened the door to events like these rallies, despite warnings from public health officials that social distancing, facial coverings and limited public interaction are still necessary to prevent a second spike of the virus.

It's unclear what specific safety measures will be put in place at Trump's rally. Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt's guidance to reopen the state still recommends its residents minimize time spent in "crowded environments," but it doesn't place limits on group gatherings.
"There will be safety precautions," Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said Thursday.

Again, you're putting too much thought into this. It's just plain old robbery, at worst, armed robbery. Looters don't give a horse puck about cultural understandings nor miscommunications. If you have something they can take without fearing the police, they will take it and nothing the community leaders agreed to will stop them.

Hell, they even looted Black businesses. No one should have any doubt who future looters would rob or not rob.

Really no longer matters now. Social distancing went out the door after Floyd's death.

                    • So Trump chooses to have a rally on Juneteenth - the anniversary of the end of slavery - in Tulsa, 99 years & 3 weeks after the Tulsa riots, which saw a pogrom by whites kill perhaps hundreds of blacks & devastate their community. Well, you can't exactly accuse trump of dog whistling. He's basically got a megaphone.

Not everything is a dog whistle. The Tulsa riots are not really taught in American public schools, and if you ask the typical American what June 19th is, the answer will be Friday. You can't dog whistle to people who are not familiar with your references.

Yeah, I'm thrilled about 100k people showing up from around the country (and the world) while we're still in the middle of a pandemic. Nothing could go wrong there....

Never mind the rioting and destruction that's sure to ensue. Good thing I don't work at a hospital just a few blocks from the most likely venues....oh, wait.

I wonder if the idiots in the Trump Administration realize how few hotel rooms are available in Jacksonville...
I mean, it's not like this has been an issue in the past...

Also, if I was Mayor Lenny Curry, I'd demand payment up front and in full from the RNC and Trump Campaign.

That would be true for his white attendees at this rally whose education level is skewed towards the less complete. Yet, at the same time, we have a guy who calls himself the least racist guy he knows, which we all know is bull. We have a guy who says he has done more for every black in this country since Lincoln. Ok, his fantasy world is pretty out there. He seems somewhat aware that he could really use some black votes which he has acknowledge at times obliquely. Then he goes out and contradicts all that by going to Tulsa where every black will see it for what it is.

Now some say the man is very astute politically. Yeah, like many psychos he knows how to magnify the bad and then play all that off against different groups. However, he is not that dumb to not know his base simply is not enough. He needs a reserve to go the extra mile. So has he given up on the black vote now or is he so disconnected from reality that he sees no issue with himself doing great things for blacks and then goes to a place were they were massacred.

One thing I know is imagine Trump were in a country with far less controls and democratic institutions in place? The results could be horrendous and possibly on a global scale. Truly the best place for Trump would be in a science lab, locked up as a guinea pig, and go through that brain of his for future reference. Isn't easy to study despots and psychopaths, en vivo, since most are dead before you get a chance. Well we did have Manson, Gacy, and the Unabomber to study but it would be nice to add a Trump.

I mean, yeah, dude's an imbecile, that's why there is a Never Trump movement.

I am just saying June 19th doesn't mean anything to most people. That might change now, because I was literally on a call an hour ago telling us we are now making June 19th a company holiday, and someone had to tell everyone what June 19th was and why it was being made a holiday.

It's a big difference between that and throwing a Communist Victory Parade on the 4th of July.
