  • Good news and bad news

The good news is that Coloradan voters fired a couple of anti gun legislatures in a recall election. That is a huge victory for freedom. However, they still have to abolish the horrible anti gun legislation the state passed earlier.
Colo. lawmakers lose recalls over gun laws support

The bad news. California got even more stupid and actually expanded gun bans.
California lawmakers pass expanded semi-automatic weapons ban
Removing a single turd from the cesspool doesn't make any difference.

Bit of a quandary mate. With the U/K it was a blanket ban on most guns .

I feel your pain. Make it over to the "wild, wild West" here and I'll set you up with my M-4A3 and 100 rounds (now that ammo is once again becoming available at reasonable prices). It's great for stress relief. When I was CO, my Gunner's Mates had an M-14 positioned on the bridge under lock and key while underway, with five 20 round magazines just for relief of my stress. I killed a shitload of waves.

True story. When my ship was decommissioned, it was sold to the Egyptian Navy. They got the 5" inch ammo, the torpedoes, the ASROC and the Harpoons, but we were ordered to offload all small arms and crew served ammunition "through the barrel" (that's actually the way the message was worded). God, we had a great time. I don't think there was a member of the crew who didn't shoot their fair share. I never really realized how much of that stuff we had until we started shooting. You know you see these monthly ammo reports that you sign but they are just numbers until it's all stacked up on the fantail and the expended brass is piling up. I probably put 50 rounds through an M79 grenade launcher alone. M-60s, M-14s, M1911A .45s, 12 gauge riot guns; they were all going at once. Thousands of rounds of NATO 7.62 churning up the sea. There were a lot of fish in the Gulf of Mexico with headaches for sure.

There are things up your way I'm jealous of, but gun laws aren't one of them. ;)

I wouldn't have to fan you or anything if you keel over from the heat, would I? It's pretty much 43 degrees here from late-April to late-October, so it's not for the faint of heart.

43? Celsius? Tell me about the humidity.

Yup, Celsius. This time of year is monsoon season so it's up around 40%. Doesn't sound like much but when it's 43 degrees out, it's bad enough.

43C is high, but not a lot. At least not for us. Just wonder how to combine that weather with the steak and eggs ;)

                          Captain, you have it easy.

The 2 weeks I spent in Bullhead City, AZ (across the river from Laughlin, NV), the average temperature at night was 104 degrees with 70-80% humidity.

It made the hottest day I spent in Phoenix feel like a cool autumn day in San Diego.

Gun-control people out. Good. Here in Sweden, almost all murders are gangster related so our need for a Second Amendment is pretty much zero. But in America, the situation must be quite different and anyone who wants to repeal the Second Amendment from the U.S. Constitution (like Alex Wagner on Obama TV known as MSNBC), then people will surely kick their Congressmen out of office and that's a good sign for sure.

My Dad was in Japan in 1945... he and his buddies were ordered to "dispose" of multiple pallets of .30 carbine ammo, no doubt left over from the great build-up on Okinawa for the aborted invasion.

They apparently burned up several M2 carbines in the process. ;)
